Hyman was a very good AD, but unfortunately he was disliked . . .

Tell me this. What has Tanner done as an AD that was all that much different that Hyman? He hasn't done squat. Do we still have the YES program? Why I think we do. Why didn't Tanner get rid of it? I guess because he thinks it is good. Hyman was not some great AD, and I never said he was, but he wasn't bad. He made won't terrible hire and one amazingly good hire. Every thing else he stayed out of the Way. Garcia acted like a punk and got what he deserved.

I like Ray and I hope he succeeds but as I've said before AD's are measured mainly by fires and hires-not keeping current coaches happy. Right now he has one hire to his name-Holbrook. Jury's still out on that hire.

I believe Stephen's grandfather passed away and he got caught drinking after the funeral and was dismissed after the drug test.

Kind of.....according to his father:
“I completely understand Stephen,” said Gary Garcia, who had two sons who played football for Harvard. “My father had just passed away,” and he cited the miserable game against Auburn.

“Then he got a phone call that Sunday and got benched,” Gary Garcia said. “His friends came to his house and they decided to have a throw-down.”

Well now you've done it.

Cue Cock Lady and Dee Cock.

It's not just about what happened at the end. The guy was lucky to be on the team at that point. He didn't get kicked off the team when he made a scene at Hyman's wife's seminar. He was given like a 6th chance and predictably blew it.

Rumor has it that the speaker said something like "you can buckle down or you can end up like Stephen Garcia" so he walked out. Is that a "scene"?

Damn. Get it right. It was an SEC seminar. Hyman's wife had nothing to do with it. Garcia was a mess and got what he deserved.

I will say this, like him or not he was professional and a businessman. I have always blamed many of the problems at SC's athletic department being a result of having a good ole boy AD. McGee and Hyman did wonders for the athletic department and made tough decisions.
Hope Ray can do the same, but I don't recall many ex-coaches being well served in AD positions. Skip Bertman comes to mind at LSU. These are no longer jobs for OJT.

Really? I thought he was a coach before he got into Administration. Can you tell us what businesses he ran in the private sector? I don't know of any.

A total of 2!
Wasn't sure of exact date but my point, if I can make it without contradicting myself, still stands. We will never know what Jim could have done with our pgm. I like to feel as if he would have been able to eventually rival SS in no. of wins. He had the persona of a great coach and the BOT allowed that ahole to virtually destroy Jim's life.

Note:Joe was talking about taking USC into a conference which if you read between the lines was the Big East.

don't care. He needed to sit there and keep his mouth shut anyway. Garcia just proved the guy right. Also, that wasn't his last chance.
