"I've been quite fortunate with injuries but there's been some stuff. There's been a calf I have partially torn two or three times, I broke a rib in 2016, and oh yeah, it turned out my toe was shattered in five pieces after the last Olympics without me knowing."Completing the vault on a bad ankle…in the team finals…of the Olympics…to help team win the gold.

Athlete A was such an eye opener. She absolutely had no choice. On a related note, I read there is a Netflix film being made about it.Given the revelations of the rampant emotional, physical, and sexual abuse that was going on with Bela and USA Gymnastics, this wasn't Kerri being brave for her team. It was her doing what her coach ordered her to do, potential further injury be damned.
I could be wrong but I think there was an infielder (2nd base?)back in the 90s maybe that couldn’t field a ground ball so they had to move him.Not comparing apples to apples...One was physical and the other is mental. I recall a baseball player all of sudden couldn't throw a strike to save his life in the playoffs (Rick Ankiel I think) I think he ended up playing the outfield. Said his mind just went blank...
Chuck Knoblauch might be the guy you’re thinking of. Happened to Steve Sax too. Throw from second to first should be as easy as it gets, but inexplicably one day they just couldn’t do it.I could be wrong but I think there was an infielder (2nd base?)back in the 90s maybe that couldn’t field a ground ball so they had to move him.
Yep…Steve Sax comes to mind. Just couldn’t throw the ball to first base from secondI could be wrong but I think there was an infielder (2nd base?)back in the 90s maybe that couldn’t field a ground ball so they had to move him.
Six rings says he wouldI wonder if Tom Brady didn’t start in the Super Bowl because of mental issues, if he would be afforded the same hero status…

Mark Wohlers would be anotherNot comparing apples to apples...One was physical and the other is mental. I recall a baseball player all of sudden couldn't throw a strike to save his life in the playoffs (Rick Ankiel I think) I think he ended up playing the outfield. Said his mind just went blank...
Greyson Greiner had a case of this his freshman year.Steve Sax and Chuck Knoblaugh (both 2B) developed the yips throwing the ball to first base after fielding ground balls. I think Sax tried to play through it, but couldn't. Knoblaugh was moved to the outfield and played another couple of years.
Oddly enough, a Mets catcher named Mackey Sasser developed the yips in his throws back to the pitcher. He had to double and triple clutch before finally releasing the ball. It didn't impact any throws to 2nd or 3rd base in the event of a stolen base attempt, so he kinda played through it.
And for good measure, let's not forget John Lester who had a season where he absolutely could not throw the ball to first as a means of holding batters on base. He just gave up on it after a while, IIRC.
The mind can be an odd thing when it seems to have gone off the deep end...
Target panic is a B!!!!. Comes and goes without warning.Anyone who shoots archery should relate. I had horrible target panic one time. There's no way I could have competed or ethically hunted. It was like brain freeze.
Tom Brady is not a victim of sexual assault.I wonder if Tom Brady didn’t start in the Super Bowl because of mental issues, if he would be afforded the same hero status…
You don't know that.Tom Brady is not a victim of sexual assault.
Victim is the new hero I guess. Or perhaps just something people use to excuse their shortcomings? There’s been a lot of bad sh&t happen to a lot of folks through the years, but no generation has ever used it as a crutch like the current one. Ironically, it’s also the generation with the most support systems available to them.Tom Brady is not a victim of sexual assault.
Don't assume what others know. I do know. You don't know that.
Maybe you should rephrase your statement to say he has not revealed any sexual assault or potential childhood trauma. A very very large majority of people who have experienced these things overcome them without public announcements.

Kind of an odd category but okay. Maybe it flares up in the summer and after a piss-poor performance.Good to know you are firmly in the "so what if an adult sexually abused you as a minor, get over it" camp.
Lol... okay Nostradamus.Don't assume what others know. I do know.
