Are we ready for LSU

That's awful advice from Beamer. That definitely cost the team today.

Beamer was right when he said you can't have 13 penalties in a game and expect to win.

We made too many mistakes, especially at critical times. 3 ineligible receiver penalties in one game. I've never seen that. SMH

All that said, the game was closer than I thought it would be.

The season certainly is not over. Yes, Bama and Oklahoma probably have better talent than LSU. But, I don't THINK Ole Miss and Missouri do. So a good season is certainly possible.

16 points taken off the board and a phantom offensive pass interference penalty called on a beautiful completion by the backup qb sealed the game. Nobody overcomes that. Fix was in

Mizzou looked pedestrian for a while today. I have just seen this too many times to get excited.

After blasting akron, we're going to ask for weeks where is the team that played LSU or UK.
Yes. Yesterday reminds me of the game Muschamp blew against Florida.

Only way this will end up being a “good season” is if we beat Clemson.
that will be our bowl game again and probably a lot in the future

Some of you guys need your head checked.

We went into this season with a totally new offense - in part because our players now walk at the end of season.

No one was expecting much of anything.

In our first two games against SEC opponents, we've scored 31 and 33pts and didn't have Sellers for 25% of the time.

We destroyed UK on the road. Largest win margin in history.

We just played a team down to the wire which we have beaten 2 times in 23 attempts - with the last win in 1995.

Spurrier was 0-4 against LSU.

We're 2-1 and playing very good ball with what we have to work with.

The loss was not "on Beamer."

Our coaching staff had an excellent game plan yesterday.

That might change tomorrow but for now.....Relax.

It wasn't a phantom OPI. Mazeo didn't even run a route. He just ran right into the defender and blocked him with both hands.

Coaches definitely did a good job yesterday. Without a doubt they outcoached Brian Kelly and crew.

Most people or just you? Were you this critical when Spurrier was losing to them over and over again? He never was really in any of the games we played against them.

Another example of Ward trying to argue Beamer is better than Spurrier.

Most people would say they team that blew a 17-0 lead were the ones who got outcoached.

It looked like LSU made adjustments, and we didnt.

Maybe give Beamer credit for a good initial plan, but admit he failed to adjust as the game went on. Jmo

Not sure I'd claim this loss, with its sloppy play and tons of penalties as an example of great coaching though.

Wrong. Not when you lose your starting QB for the entire second half. And have half as many 4 and 5 stars to begin with.

Beamer clearly did more with less when compared to Kelly. The fact that we were even in that game to begin with is a credit to the entire coaching staff.

Totally agree with this. Kelly coached circles around Beamer, who did have a good game plan going into the game. I'd love to know who contributes to that game plan? I bet it is more than just our on field coaches. It would be interesting to know who.

No he didn't. Take away LSUs starting QB for the second half and we keep our starting QB, and we beat them by 3 TDs.

And you are completely ignoring the fact that we are closer in talent to Vandy than we are LSU.

Totally agree. Sums it up perfectly. How anyone could disagree with that assessment, is beyond me.

How many coaches lose their QB for the second half and are able to beat a team with FAR more talent?

The fact that we were still in it at the end is a miracle.

I would love to hear an indepth discussion of how Beamer was outcoached by Kelly yesterday.

Break it down for us.

They had twice as many 4 and 5 star recruits.

We have a new offense and no one was really giving us a chance in the game leading in.

We had the same yardage on offense.

We were leading the entire game until the final 2:00 mark.

We had TWO TDs called back because of ticky tack penalties.

How did they outcoach us exactly?

We were outscored 36-16 the final 42 minutes of the game.

Again, most people would consider that outcoached.

Nope. Not when you lose your starting QB and the other team doesn't for 30 of those minutes.

And again, you completely ignore the fact that LSU is FAR more talented than us to being with. Not even close. Never has been.

So you want to break it down into segments now to avoid providing actual analysis of the game?

"I'll carve up some numbers and show you!!"

What would you call the 17-0 part then?

Definitely. It's called "making adjustments". I am not surprised this is a novel concept to Mrs Satterfield.

Even Beamer said that you can't have that many penalties and think you will win. We had 3 different penalties on offensive lineman down the field in passing situations. We never had that even when Mrs Satterfield's husband was here.

Only a complete moron would think that you could just "adjust" your way out of losing your starting QB in the middle of a game against a team with literally TWICE as many 4 and 5 stars.

We got some things to clean up, but Beamer and crew certainly made that game more of a game than it ever should have been considering the talent gap and loss of the starting QB.

So with a 17 point head start, we can't expect Beamer to outcoach a team with more talent?

It wasn't a "head start". The fact that we ever had a 17 point lead is a credit to Beamer's coaching ability. Teams as good as LSU always respond. NOBODY expected us to blow them out. Everyone knew it would be close and expected LSU to win. The fact that it was as close as it was with our starting QB out for half the game is a credit to the staff.

Spurrier never beat LSU at USC and averaged losing by 10 points. Beamer is ahead of schedule at this point.

So I have to give Beamer credit for the 17 point head start (which I do) but then I have to make excuses for the rest of the game?

Obviously, since forever. How did Spurrier do against LSU?
You were talking about talent. You said "we are closer in talent to Vandy than we are LSU". Those are your words.

The Portal has been around for 3 years. Looking at the Portal and high school recruiting in the past 3 years:

2022
LSU 4th and 15th
SC 3rd and 26th
Vandy 54th and 33rd

2023
LSU 9th and 5th
SC 48th and 17th
Vandy 46th and 46th

24
LSU 48th and 11th
SC 11th and 31st
Vandy 35th and 39th

Based on most recent recruiting, we are closer to LSU talent-wise than to Vandy.
