about Beamer, because your mind was made up on day one of the hire... I was one who didn't like that we were interviewing Beamer, especial what I went through when Bell was hired... A former asst. coach who I thought stabbed Carlen in the back to get the job... My personal opinion....

But when former players lined up and forced Tanner to hire Beamer, my opinion changed on Beamer and remembered the players he coached here and how far we fell from recruiting after Beamer left... Beamer with Ellis helped build the program to back to back to back 11-2 seasons... Some clueless Carolina fans will point out that Beamer was here from 2007 -2010 and our 11-2 seasons didn't start until after he left and we went 11-2 in 2011, 2012 and 2013... But Beamer help with the foundation... And the same reason Carlen played the foundation for our 10-2 season in 1984 and/or he was fired after 1981 season...

Every coach coming in to South Carolina has inherited a big mess and it starts with the Carolina FANS!!! Never happy and always want someone else who doesn't want to be here in Columbia...

Name me coaches who we interviewed last year who really wanted the job??? Our options where limited and when the players stepped up and supporter Beamer, that was good enough for me to say he is our guy...

Beamer is already a winner, winning two games one we shouldn't have.. He still has one more win to top last year and he could win another one down the road....

We are not that good... No WR's who can catch the ball, we have to use Dak and he couldn't catch a cold... The OLine is bad, can't block and they have been around the program for awhile, just not playing on the field... The defense is average and playing better than I expected.. This is a below average team and they have played better than I expected so far this year...

Anyone who expected this team to win more than 3 games coming into the season is either a dumb @$$ or a typical Carolina fan who believe we should win the National Championship every team because we play in etc SEC...

I'm old and played under Carlen for one year, his last year... I've heard the calls to replace him after 6-6 year, and that's after coming off George Roger's greatest Era at Carolina...

Carolina fans will never be happy who we hire... We hired Spurrier and I know some Carolina fans weren't happy with the choice until after the first 11-2 season...

One difference I see is that the kids play hard for him right up to the final whistle. We look in much better shape physically. We don’t have the jimmy’s and joes and the greatest X’s and O’s Can’t overcome that. SOS was the perfect example. One of the greatest but could not win until he got the players and his system was in place. We simply don’t have the tools , offense precisely to impose our will on anybody. Limited receivers, both Lloyd and Harris look timid. Last year, one man never stopped Harris. His speed is down. Give him some time. It’s hard to make chicken salad out of the chicken shit he was left. Any coach would struggle

You are only as good as your record. Wanting to be here doesn’t make you a winner. Coach Joe Gibbs went back to coach Washington again after Spurrier. He wanted to be there. He flopped. There is no guarantee. Great coaches have very good assistants. I think Beamer can be successful as head coach here in the SEC. I’m not as sure all his assistants can. We have basically the same line and running backs that are good and can’t get a yard when needed what’s changed besides coaching?

Have you ever considered the fact that maybe every coach has inherited a mess because our fans don’t demand enough? You seem completely content with losing.

I asked a player off those SOS teams, who worked for me his Junior Summer, what he thought about Whammy becoming his DC and he told me "He's straight. We like him. He'll do good"

So in other words, former players know about as much as the posters here. This is like letting former employees have a say in your company's hiring of a CEO. But hey its Carolina. I expect it.

I’m not negative on Beamer just his choice of OC. Coaches make poor decisions about assistants all the time the question is how long will he take to recognize mistakes and move on.

This. Players are too close to the situation unfortunately so the bias comes out.

You can demand all you want, but it won't change nothing. We lost to Kentucky, whose coach 53-50 in 9 seasons as head coach. Maybe we'll be lucky and Beamer can get us to 8-4 every couple of years and we'll be happy. Or we can "demand more" and fire coaches every few years and have no stability to the program and continue losing to Kentucky.

We have never fired coaches like other schools. This has been addressed numerous times. Its like the memes on Facebook that are shared millions of times despite their absurdity. Patience unfortunately is not a virtue in football right now.

So you’re saying demanding more will put us in the same position we are in currently at worst?

Needs to fix his offense.
Didn't it take Swinney a few tries before he got the right coordinators?
But he had the benefit of being in a weak conference with elite players. We don't have that luxury. They could win 9 or 10 with bad assistants. They look horrible this year and will still win 9 or 10.

The idea that we just need to fire our football coaches more often to improve our football team is ludicrous. There have been 3 USC head coaches and 4 UT coaches (not counting interim coaches) during Stoop's tenure at Kentucky. How's that been working out for USC and UT?

You're being obtuse. Spurrier retired. We literally fired one who should've never been hired in the first place. How long did KY keep Joker? Case rested. We are an institution of complacency and the likes of you are why we will be mired in mediocrity forever. I must have special powers because I recognize a pile of bullcrap before most.

My point is Stoops 3 games above .500 and plays the softest OOC schedule of any other SEC program. He's tenure is average, at best, and yet that's still better than USC and UT.

Fans forget that Spurrier hovered around .500 in his first 5 years at Carolina and that's back when Georgia and Clemson weren't nearly as good as they are now.

We need to take off the garnet-colored glasses and accept in the Playoff Era the football program has a low ceiling, then maybe we could start beating Kentucky again and go to an Outback Bowl every few seasons.

Bleat bleat bleat bleat.

De ja vu all over again.

Great job!

I really like the direction of our defense and special teams have played well. We do however, have a multitude of problems on the offensive side of the ball that don't necessarily correlate to Jimmy's and Joe's.

I'm pulling for Beamer and I'm sure he'll be given ample opportunity to fix the offense. Its hard to not like his enthusiasm and it's obvious he's working his ass off. Hopefully, he can put it all together over the next few years and win a bunch of games. Would love to see him succeed as a Gamecock.

Give me a break. No fans have given so much for so little in college football history. What other program in SEC would've hired Muschamp or a TE coach with hardly a peep from the fans? Vandy. That's it.

And by the way, the fans didn't get Carlen fired. He and the corrupt president got into a spat over money and he got sacked. Fan expectations played zero role.

Another point: we played an all SEC schedule last year. Comparing the records doesn't work.

So if we had the chance, you wouldn't hire Swinney?

Can only coach up players with weak minds or weak motivations so much before you hit their ceiling. The mistakes I see, the general player behavior suggest to me that these are the leftovers from top programs. We have size and speed, but these guys are at USC for a reason. Usually that means they have at least one red flag coming out of HS. If I got hired at USC, I’d be planning simple schemes and a culture that caters to immature guys.

Then please fix this program. I'm begging you to use your powers for good. For the love of humanity I plead with you to fix everything that is wrong with this football team now! I can't do it, I am just a "regular" fan who is frustrated as hell with the state of our program but am absolutely powerless to do anything about it. Please fix this team. Please! Help us!

Oh boy, all of this comparing schools over their "firing record". DarkCock is right, there were a lot of fans wanting to fire Spurrier around the 5 yr mark. You'll never get anywhere firing your coach every 4 to 5 years and starting over. It takes years of recruiting cycles, building relationships with H.S. coaches, players and families, etc to build something big. There's going to be setbacks, recruiting misses, etc that you have to weather and keep trying to move forward. Really, only the athletic director and others at that level know if the HC is on the right path or not. The worst thing you can have is outside influence forcing the AD to make decisions. Longevity and continuity matter and they matter a lot! I worry about this being here in the state capitol where politics is at the forefront.

I'll just say this. Obviously Beamer is green and has a lot to learn. We're going to have to be patient and allow him to grow. I'm interested to see how he changes over the next few years. He's got all this youth-like excitement around him, but he's needs to develop some toughness to his character IMO. Contrast him to someone like Pittman. His team seems to reflect that grit you get from him. I don't see SB ever being THAT guy, but he will evolve into his own version, so to speak.

Yup, I would. He is cutthroat with an "aw shucks" demeanor. He would get some skill players here and if the assistants didn't produce he would show them door. Tony E. better be sending out resumes.

I no longer go to home games. Thats the only thing I can control. The BOT and AD know we will continue our support. They know we don't care about winning. The only way to change it is to force it by hitting their pocketbook. We have never did that. We are the token fans of college football. Its literally rinse and repeat except for Holtz and Spurrier. Its really sad.

True…..I have laughed numerous times at tater fans saying dumbo had lost his edge after their uga loss. I assume they are in meltdown mode right now.

Go back and see how many times we got stuffed and 3rd and short and 4th and short the last 3-4 years. A LOt! Harris gained a bunch of yards last year. But we also had a bunch of negative runs and a lot of no gains when we needed a foot. This ain’t something new.

We're stuck with Beamer for a while. Swinney had to take his lumps with assistants not up to the task.
All I can hope for is that Beamer is on the same wavelength.

I don’t have any issue with Beamer. Who else did u think we were gonna get to take this dumpster burn of a gig? So yea. He’s here - let’s support him. My issue is once again, these questionable hires that SC coaches continue to make over and over and over again. I’m no football guru but even I am smart enough that when they announced the Satt hire, I was scratching my head goin “Who? Why?”

R.E.L.A.X. We don’t have the horses on offense to compete yet. Is Satterfield good or bad? Don’t know. He is four games into a three-five year rebuild.

I really trust that Beamer will make decisions in his long term best interest to keep his job. If that means getting rid or keeping Satterfield or the OLine coach, I believe he will.

but at this point, lighten up. They don’t have the horses to compete with anyone outside of Vandy and Missou Though we may just have the horses to compete with Clempson in a low scoring game.

Yep. I think you are on to something. I think we can say the same thing about our QB recruiting over the past 6 years. Sure, we’ve had highly rated QBs come here, but I think they were leftovers as well. None of them panned out. All of them had issues. Of course they had the worst QB development in the country. So there is that.
