Helen Keller, Ray Charles, & Stevie Wonder can all see it by now. Only question now is when.
I think some folks on this board would rather be "right" than have the team turn it around next year just so they could say "I told you so."
Look, everyone wants all the team to win. But the ongoing anti-Chad posts aren't going to change anything. Tanner has already said that Holbrook will be back next year, so why not support the team or just move on? Everyone has their opinion as to why things went wrong this year .... is it bad coaching, did players not perform up to ability, did certain kids just not live up to their billing, did Chad's position as HC hurt recruiting since the assistant's do more of the recruiting (as he used to do when he was an assistant)? All possibilities, but I think he has to be given the chance to evaluate all of the above and see how it gets corrected.
I know fans also disagree on when the "slide" began. I still say that year 1 and year 2 were good. While I want Omaha, I don't think of it as a slide when the team lost on the road in Supers to a higher ranked team (Year 1), and I thought he should have been coach of the year last year for getting SC to 40 wins and hosting a regional with all of the injuries (that most folks seem to forget about). SC has been to Omaha 11 times in its history... so it doesn't happen every year.
I heard an interesting stat on the radio today... Prior to this season SC had a .500 or winning record in SEC play for 17 straight years. The next current longest streak is 6 years (by Vanderbilt). So there are some outstanding programs (Florida/LSU etc) that are going to slide every once in a while.
I do agree, that if they don't make the postseason next year, there will be more of a hot-seat, but I'd like to see him fix it and hoping that he does (rather than some folks who just want to dump and fire a coach at the first sign of trouble.... like they did in Spurrier's first few years here.)
Go Gamecocks!
I guess some people still don't get it. We aren't having a bad year "just because it happens." We are having a bad year because we are a team loaded with bad baseball players and they are not getting any better under our coaches. We had good players on this team. They are leaving every year and being replaced with bad players. And there is no good reason for that to be happening. That is what we are experiencing.....and the reason every other major baseball program in this country can have off years but we can't is why???
Because people are not going to support not firing the coach when they think the best thing for the team is to fire the coach that is doing miserably at his job. They will support the team THEIR way which will be continuing to insist Holbrook be replaced no matter what the AD decides.I think some folks on this board would rather be "right" than have the team turn it around next year just so they could say "I told you so."

Did Frank Martin start out with a team that was in the final four the year before?Frank Martin is 15-41 in SEC games, yet some people are upset over Chad?
Chad gets 3 more years.

Exactly, I am not a fan at all at this HCIW stuff. It's obviously not working for us. I want us to have a head coach with a proven track record at this level. We just almost had a threepeat in National Titles we should be able to get a better coach than this and better players than we have.Did Frank Martin start out with a team that was in the final four the year before?
That is nice, Tanner was the coach though not him. Scrubs on Championship teams get rings, it doesn't mean they are not still scrubs.Chad is wearing 2 rings. Frank can't make the CBI.

You mean the guy not good enough for that role? That shouldn't have that role? Yes. I'll support coaches that are qualified. That actually get the job done. I am not going to support a guy I think is a loser. I want a coach I believe is a winner. That is not Holbrook. The point is to win. The coach has to win if he wants respect and support. It's not free. It's not automatic. The dude has to earn it, and he hasn't come close.So....the way you support the team is berating the face of the team, its head coach. I get it, today must be Opposite Day!

The Gamecocks say: thank you your continued support. We can feel the love and it is appreciated the positive way in which you support your beloved gamecocks. It's encouragement like yours that makes it worth all the time and effort we put into representing the University even when we are not playing and coaching well.
A couple of posters beat me to it. Frank Martin inherited a train wreck. Chad Holbroke inherited THE TOP baseball program in these United States. Huge difference.
Since you say nothing else really needs to be said about it, it would be so nice if you stopped saying things about it.
He inherited the best program, though perhaps not the best team. There's a distinction there you're perhaps missing. And players do move on. It doesn't just happen at SC.
