South Carolina added a versatile athlete to its 2021 recruiting class on Wednesday when Pensacola’s Simeon Price made his pledge to Will Muschamp and the Gamecock football staff.

During the process, despite a ranking that does not yet approach four-star status, Price has accumulated a quality offer list that includes Michigan State, Mississippi State, Oklahoma, Ole Miss, Tennessee, Virginia, Virginia Tech, and others.

Price is regarded as an excellent athlete with NFL bloodlines; his father, Mitchell Price, played in the NFL as a defensive back. Price, as a 15 year told, took home the top combine performer award at NIKE’s The Opening regional in Louisiana last spring. There, he posted a 40-yard dash time in the 4.6 range, a 4.21 shuttle, plus a 38-inch vertical jump. As a track athlete, he’s also earned regional gold medals in the long jump and 400 meter dash.

From what we have been told, Price is also a high-character kid off the field who’s going to be a quality locker room presence and who will always do things the right way. As a junior, he missed half the season due to injury but still made a big impact at a variety of positions: receiver, wildcat QB, corner, safety, and on special teams. College programs have likewise recruited him at a variety of spots including wideout, running back, corner, and nickel.

Back in late March, Price told us that South Carolina was standing out to him over Nebraska. He’s a prospect the Gamecock staff has taken a bit of a “whole staff” approach on – his area recruiter is Bobby Bentley, but he’s also kept in contact with Joe Cox, Travaris Robinson, and Muschamp. He has seemed to enjoy the idea of having the ball in his hands, but could also factor in as a special teams returner or as a defensive back.
