Recruiting Tidbits
Both high Gamecock priority offensive linemen A.J. Cann and Eric Mack will attend Carolina’s junior day. Each player is racking up an impressive offer list, but I still believe there is a strong percentage both end up in Columbia if things unfold the right way.
Beaufort (S.C.) linebacker Justin Parker is also a player the Gamecock staff is high on. Carolina jumped on him last summer, well before any other school. Clemson has since offered, and Georgia will be a big factor if they throw their hat in the ring. I think the longer the Bulldogs go without offering, the better chance Shane Beamer will have to ultimately reel him in.
Team Information
While I’ve heard good things about each of the new coaches Carolina hired in the offseason, the one who has generated the most buzz is Eric Wolford. He has brought with him to Columbia a level of intensity, work ethic and competitive spirit that will serve him and the Gamecock program very well.
Strength and conditioning coach Craig Fitzgerald has also made his presence felt in a hurry and the players are responding very well to him. I’ve heard multiple reports of players increasing their bench press max and other numbers, primarily due to improved technique. He has also done a great job of mixing up the workouts and taking an “every day brings some different” approach, which the players also love.
