Recruiting tidbits
For anyone that may have missed it yesterday, DeVonte Holloman’s visit to Carolina this weekend will now be of the official variety. He has a lot to learn about the Gamecock program in a short period of time, as he plans to graduate in December, and he and his father felt like an official visit was the best way to accomplish that.
Based on what I’m hearing heading into the visit, I don’t think Holloman plans to drag this process out very long. With him being an early graduate, he and his father would both like for him to know his destination relatively soon, which could be a good thing for Carolina.
On another front, I can tell you more than one coaching staff believes Stephon Gilmore is THE best prospect in the Palmetto State’s class of 2009 and that he’s currently highly underrated by the recruiting services. I firmly believe he’ll move up in the rankings once the powers that be at Rivals.com see his senior film and observe him in person the week of the post-season all-star games.
The full list of visitors for the LSU game will be posted later today. It’s a strong group.
Team Information
One big key to the LSU game will be how the Gamecock offensive guards fare against the tough Tiger defensive line. Neither Jamon Meredith nor Terrence Campbell has played like they’re capable yet, and this would be a great game for them to turn it around. It won’t be easy, but it can be done.
Running back Eric Baker played one snap against Kentucky, meaning he’s no longer eligible for a medical hardship. It would not surprise me to see him get some meaningful carries this weekend in an effort to get more of a slashing running back on the field.
Running back Brian Maddox hurt his knee Monday night and could be eligible for a medical hardship if it ends up being a season ending injury.
