Recruiting tidbits
There is a story on the front page on Chatham (Va.) Hargrave four-star safety Jonathan Meeks. His only official visit so far has been to North Carolina, and he plans to take more in the coming weeks. If he picked today, I think it would be the Tar Heels. However, he’s from the Palmetto State and is friends with Gamecock commitment Stephon Gilmore and familiar with the success defensive backs from the Rock Hill area have had in Columbia. He played his high school ball at Rock Hill High. If he takes an official visit to Carolina, I think they’ll become a big factor with him.
Team Information
Florida beat Arkansas 38-7 when they faced each other earlier in the season, but one of the things lost in the lopsided score was the fact that Arkansas moved the ball on the Gators for most of the game. They racked up 361 total yards, including 141 on the ground. They just couldn’t score points. I don’t think Florida’s defense is as dominant as the stats suggest. They have benefitted greatly from the play of the Gator offense and special teams. It will be very interesting to see how their defense performs if Carolina can slow down Tim Tebow and company and not get in a big hole early.
You can bet Carolina’s coaches have focused quite a bit on the film of each of that contest as they put together the game plan this week.
Safety Akeem Auguste’s ankle is still sore, but he’s improving and expected to be in good shape by Saturday afternoon. With Chris Culliver suspended for the first half for throwing punches against Arkansas, Auguste figures to play a ton of snaps against the Gators, and his play has really improved as the season has progressed.
