Chiefs’ DC Steve Spagnuolo was looking for CBs for his new scheme in KC. One of his favored techniques is called a “shuffle”, which allows a CB to line up 7 yards off the LOS w/ his outside foot forward. This allows the CB to keep both the outside & slot receivers in his field of vision while peering into the backfield in zone coverage from the snap. The Chiefs’ scouted for CBs who had utilized this approach in college. Fenton fits the bill for them. They noted Clemson’s Mark Fields has better tape in press coverage, but since the Chiefs new scheme calls for more zone coverage, Fenton may be more advanced. It’s clear that our DBs are well coached for the next level. JMHO.
