I don't think he would be hitting 370 against SEC pitching, but I think he would be a solid 300 hitter as a starter.
I think he could have really helped us playing in the outfield or even as a dh. If he was playing infield for us, might have won a few more games with his bat, might have lost a few more games because of his glove. He and Schrock have about the same fielding percentage. Schrock gets the nod because he hits more homers.
Chad to let him go... He realize that once they put Iskenderian on the back of the uniform, he didn't have any more letters to us for the rest of the team...
A guy who is well-respected as a Gamecock baseball analyst on a competing site recently pointed out the Iskenderian started 9 games as freshman & played in a few more. At the end of that season, he was supposedly upset because he thought promises of a certain # of at-bats was made during the recruiting process (guy I'm paraphrasing said he has never heard or heard of any USC baseball coach making any such "promises"). Isken... left of his own volition for JUCO before signing w/the Hurricanes. At this point I'm no longer paraphrasing this other guy, but I seem to remember there was some "stage mother" drama tied up w/this player. Maybe (???) if the staff had any idea he could hit what he did this year (I think he was around .250 or so the year he played for us) they would have tried to make him happy & stick around, but...who knows??
