It seems 1 of our 4 star players dropped down to a 3 star. Who was it?

It looks like it was our QB Brandon Mcllwain. As to why he dropped a star, I don't have a clue.

You haven't heard? Spurrier is checked out, doesn't care and is about to retire. If a player decides to stay committed to us, it's a clear indication he doesn't care about his future. Thus, he was downgraded.

Seriously though, I don't really understand why he is being downgraded. Everything I have heard about McIlwain points to him being a great player. Seems like he has a good head on his shoulders and a good work ethic. Those are the type of players we need....whether he is a 3 or 4 star is of less concern to me.

He went from being 4*, #15 ranked dual-threat QB to being unranked?

Makes no sense...He's received an invitation and is competing in the semi-finals of the Nike Elite 11 QB camp on June 6th and 7th.

Hope he shows up Jacob Eason while there and gets Davis back in the class....

I guess Brandon hasn't "played" as well this spring as some other qb's. Who knows. Means nothing. Still think he has a chance to be an excellent qb.

This board has turned into a place to take cheap shots at Spurrier no matter the topic. This kid's rating has nothing to do with Spurrier. If it does, show a link to prove it.

Is there a link to that? I would like to read about it.
You can go to another site and read about it. He is 1 of 23 QBS competing for the final 11 "elite" spots this weekend @ the Open. He's in some very good company to be in that group. It is the cream of the crop.

He was a 3 and went to a 4 and now back down to a 3 all during the offseason. I'm starting to thing they're picking rankings out of a hat.

anyone that is recruited by south carolina and signs with south carolina drops a star 57.8% of the time.....its a fact

He didn't commit to Alabama or Ohio St....so naturally he dropped....

You're probably right. I was thinking through last year's season and we were so close to being 11-2 for the 4th year in a row. Now we have our same band of so called fans on FGF bashing and writing off SOS at every turn. Most of them are stealth taters, and they know who they are.

If we had even a below average defense last year (instead of a pitiful one), we win 11 games again and should have done so. I don't think that should put us in the Chicken Little category (no pun intended). We have a very tough schedule this year, and could have a similar season........but I'll wait for football to start before making crap judgements like many on this board.

Our QB, OL and RB situation was better last year. Our TE situation was probably better last year too. There is NO way our O will be as good. In fact, I think we're in for a rough ride on O. We're also counting on totally new faces on the DL. While that sounds great on paper, given how bad the D was last year, in reality that's not a recipe for success in the SEC. These new guys will be going up against SEC veterans. I have very little faith in success this year.
