Jerri Spurrier joins list of South Carolina graduates

Eight members of South Carolina’s football team graduated from the school Monday, but they weren’t the only Gamecock alums to earn a degree this week.
Jerri Spurrier, wife of former coach Steve Spurrier, also graduated this week with a degree in psychology. Jerri Spurrier did not participate in the school’s commencement ceremonies because she was in New York with her husband for Heisman Trophy ceremonies.
“I am so proud to be a graduate of our school,” Jerri Spurrier told The State via text message.
Jerri Spurrier took USC classes throughout her husband’s 10-and-a-half year tenure as head coach. She did not attend her husband’s resignation press conference in October because she was in a class, he said.
It’s been a big week for the Spurriers, who on Tuesday saw the school’s new indoor practice facility named for them.
