Jon Gruden on Drafting Vic Beasley in top 10

Maybe it is just my lack of paying close attention, but I don't recall Beasley doing much against good competition in his career. He padded his stats against weaker opponents/players. He is fast, but don't think he is big enough to warrant such a high pick especially at a position that he didn't play in college.

In the last 2 seasons against what I would assume you would call "quality" teams in South Carolina (2 games), FSU (2), UGA (2), Ohio State (1), and Oklahoma (1) Vic Beasley had 10 sacks. At that pace in a 13 game season he would have 16.25 sacks which is a higher rate than his actual sack totals. So in actuality he did most of his damage against "quality" teams. But don't let facts get in the way of a good story.

Yes, because we all know the # of sacks is the be all/end all stat for DE's.

Vic's gonna set the NFL on fire...because he had 10 sacks as a college player. He'll make Reggie White, Too Tall Jones, Howie Long and LC Greenwood look like dwarfs pillow fight, the leagues best OT's look like ping pong balls in a pinball machine, and QB's look like goldfish in a blender.

I hope the players union is pressing the league to preparing extra medics and transports...maybe even upping benefits for players with career ending injuries.

And next year come draft time, the Falcons can focus solely on offense cuz they'll only need 7 players on defense.

The guy I responded to brought stats up and stated that they were padded. All I did was prove him wrong with real life statistics.

The Falcons passing on Gurley for a situational pass rusher is like the Panthers getting two first rounders. How the didn't take Gurley is way beyond me. On another hand man is St Louis not stacked as hell...?

Tbh, he'll probably play more downs in his rookie season than Clowney will in his first AND second combined. Just sayin
Doubtful unless Clowney is hurt again this season. Beasely will either be a 3rd down pass rusher or converted to LB. Neither situation spells out a lot of playing time for him as a rookie.
