But still very good hires.

Unfortunately I don't think they're out either. I hear Key say strange things about people at Carolina talking crap about the program. Of course it's Key, he's certifiable. I also heard some radio stuff about coaches knowing there out the door and not recruiting as hard, but that was in December. I think something's up, we lost too many of our best recruits and there were others that we still got that we had to sway back into the fold.

I know for certain that Deke was still very involved with 1 of our top DL signees and called the family and recruit often.

Gee, considering everything about this year's class and the number of, I HOPE they screwed us considering the number of decommits we lost. Otherwise, it appears as if we just couldn't hold onto a very large group of 'flippers'.

At first glance, what would an outsider* who follows recruiting think after reviewing today's class (loaded with good ones, I agree)?

*a peer review it would be - but not from a Dawg, Tater or Vile.

No. I know a couple of coaches in GA for two kids we were recruiting and they said our staff was doing a great job.

Yes, because they f***ed up our defense so badly that recruits didn't want to come here.

I think Whammy and Jr can be blamed for the defections of some of our better recruits. The 2-3 year comment by HBC was not very good for recruiting either.

I think Hoke would have been a positive draw for defensive recruits who want to get after the passer. But they heard the rumors just like we did.

I have a feeling the Brick Haley rumor is just that. It doesn't seem like any kind of step up for him to come here to do the same job. Lateral move at best. He might be leveraging a raise.

In mid-January, when Steele and Orgeron were hired at LSU, Haley was demoted and in Miles' press-conference he addressed Haley as an "intern". Apparently, when Haley was hired in 2008, Miles demoted the current the DL coach (Earl Lane) to an admin. position and it looks like Haley is being done the same way. According, to a paper in La., if Haley is still there in June, they will then address what his duties will be. I imagine this would be very insulting to someone as experienced as Haley and he may opt out to take a position at another SEC school.

Then he has gotten a raw deal. In his 5 years there, he has coached no less than 9 NFL draftees. And he would likely be welcome (and an upgrade) here. Fair or otherwise, Deke has the smell of Whammy all over him. We have a lot of JuCo talent coming in. This defense will improve quickly.

Agree. Miles saw an upgrade with Haley and stepped on Lane, now he sees Orgeron as an upgrade and stepped on Haley. It would be hard to stomach seeing someone like Haley take an admin. role when other teams (ours) would consider him a huge upgrade and not hesitate to say so. Apparently, all of the LSU coaches contracts were brought up in a Supervisor's agenda...except Haley's.

To your original comment, it still may very well be speculation and rumor, but I did want to clear up that Haley might not consider this a lateral move due to his re-positioning and treatment by Miles. If it doesn't happen, I hope this new blood isn't "coached down" because we have serious talent on the DLine now.

No I don't think any of our coaches sabotaged us. Our season might have though.
