SATURDAY/SUNDAY UPDATES -

Note- the newest updates will be at the bottom of this original post.

- USC played host this weekend to three big-time RBs from the 2020 class in Georgia's Cartavious Bigsby, Florida's Jaylan Knighton, and Florida's Don Chaney Jr.

Knighton wrapped up his visit already and has headed up to Clemson, as he had previously planned back to back junior day stops in the Palmetto State.

Chaney Jr. is not wrapping up his visit until later, and he arrived on Friday night from what I'm told. We've documented that Chaney and his father have an excellent relationship with Thomas Brown that dates back to Brown's courtship of Chaney at Miami.

The elder Chaney was a teammate of Steve Taneyhill at South Carolina in the 1990s.

Bigsby is going to be staying over and departing campus on Sunday, from what we hear. All indications are that South Carolina is doing excellent work on the visit with him. The Rivals100 back is a projected early enrollee who is certain to wrap up the process by July at the latest. He's previously mulled dropping a top seven, but has apparently recently trimmed it to five behind the scenes. Bigsby arrived on campus with some buzz in terms of South Carolina's chances; let's see where things stand on Sunday.

- 2020 WR Marquez Bell is one visitor not on our initial list who made it in for a trip as well.

- Georgia athlete Desmond Tisdol, recently offered by the Gamecocks, made it in for the junior day trip and all indications are it went very well for the Rochelle (Georgia) Wilcox County product.

- Tennessee defensive back Devonte Nelson did not make the trip.

- USC offered TE John Copenhaver during his visit. Check out the story here: https://southcarolina.rivals.com/news/gamecocks-move-in-on-2020-tight-end

- Georgia long snapper Colby Cox told us that today’s visit to USC was the best yet, that the people and facilities were top of the line. USC wants him to come back for a practice in the spring.

- Georgia DT Makius Scott recaps his visit here:

- I mentioned Desmond Tisdol out of Georgia earlier. Can tell you that USC does have him on the board as a LB.

Tisdol doesn’t care which position he plays in college. We believe USC made a big impression here on the first visit.

- Just spoke with a source who said four star ATH Reggie Grimes wrapped up his trip and that the family thought it was “awesome.”

- Again, Tank Bigsby will not finish his visit until tomorrow.

But the returns have been favorable for USC so far.

- NC DE Myles Murphy stayed home and didn’t visit anywhere today - he apparently also considered going to NC State.

- Four-star, Rivals100 RB Don Chaney had a strong visit to USC this weekend, story below:
