Kylic Horton commits

Not a name I had even heard… In this covid affected recruiting cycle camp evals are more important than ever.

He is tall, that is about all I can say about him right now.

There are some YouTube videos of him playing basketball, if anyone cares to check them out.

153rd ranked receiver in the country for this class.
He’s early. Just in the last couple months have started picking up offers. Not saying he’s going to be Alshon just saying that it appears he is an recent discovery- Rivals hasn’t ranked him, and 247 has him 3*

Oh hell. That means they're about to drop to a -2 star. 😒
Maybe who knows. Reality is that there’s thousands of HS football players. Kids get found and ranked by camps, games with film, etc. no camps last year. Kid is from an 8 man team, so probably not a lot of exposure. I’ve heard from the GC Podcast that we were actively recruiting some kids until they came to camp and then we layed off because their evaluation didn’t match their profile. This year should be interesting for sure with a lack of camps last year.

Whatever happens, there's a lot to like about his measurables. We'll see if he can get it done on the big stage.

The same people spitting on USC taking him are the same ones who would be crying if he went somewhere else and shined.
Can’t that be said about any non-highly rated recruit? I don’t think you want a team made up of average players that you signed just to prevent them from possibly “shining” somewhere else.

Why are you even on this board tater?
That’s original. How long did it take you to come up with that? But to address your implication, my statement had absolutely nothing to do with USC or even this particular recruit. It was simply stating the obvious that you don’t want to sign player just to keep someone else from getting them. But go ahead and write your reply down somewhere so that you don’t forget it. That’s a dandy that I’m sure can be used again some time.

I highly doubt that reasoning truly had any impact on why the coaches offered this kid. I was not there, and never heard of him before yesterday but reading up after his commitment- he has tremendous measurables and seemed to blow them away in camp. If that is the case, those absolutely ARE the types of recruits you want to build your team out of.

Stars and recruit rankings are much harder to guage after the past year+ of covid restrictions, shortened seasons, zero on campus visits or camps… It is vitally important to hit the ground running as soon as they opened things up, get as many kids in to evaluate in person and rely on those evaluations more than anything else this year even more than most. That seems to be exactly what our staff is doing and I applaud them.
