In 1980 we played and lost in the national semi-final in Mount Pleasant, MI. We lost to Tennessee and then beat Louisiana Tech in the 3rd place game. Evidently the AIAW tournaments are recognized in terms of National Titles, but not in terms of Final Fours. But it was the Final Four, just before it was an NCAA sport at the shockingly late date of 1983.

Sorry you folks have misunderstood my statement. Per ESPN, South Carolina is the first SEC women's basketball team to reach the Final Four since 2008. Which that seems strange to me.

Tennessee's coach came down with dementia and LSU's coach went down on a player, so they're programs haven't been nearly as good in a while. And A&M was in the Big 12 when they won it all a few years ago.
