The upcoming games against Arkansas and UT are big. Not only does winning both give us an outside shot at the NIT, it also could get us a bye in the first round of the SEC tournament.
Win both, and we're the 10 seed.
Win one, and we're dropped to 11. If we beat Arkansas and lose to UT, we drop to 11 on head-to-head. Beat UT and lose to Arkansas, we're still 11. Per SEC tie-breaker rules, if teams are tied head to head, their record against the 1 seed are compared, then the 2 seed, and so on. Both teams got smacked by UK, but Tennessee is 1-1 against Arkansas. Even if we beat UT, we'd still be the 11 seed by virtue of an 0-2 record against Arkansas.
MSU and Auburn are still in play (we could drop all the way to 13 if results don't go our way), but thanks to the win today our fate is in our hands.
