Day 1 of Shane Beamer Camp has officially arrived as the Gamecocks will host prospects for camp today for the first time since 2019 and Gamecock Central will have complete coverage here in this thread.

The festivities are scheduled to kick off at 9:30 and go through around 2:00, but in general you'll have prospects arriving earlier than that at times and staying later for campus tours or to spend some time with the staff, so those times are more like guidelines.

The plan is for us to keep all of the content for a particulary day's camp in its thread. Sure, if there's big news or a new offer, it will get its own post as well, but if you want to follow all of the ins and outs of the camps everything for that day should be right there in the camp thread for that day.

Here's a quick preview of some things to watch, some of which you've already read in the June Week 1 Primer.

---------

The first summer camp of the Beamer era will feature plenty of star power as two of the top quarterbacks in the 2023 class will hit campus.

Snellville (Ga.) Brookwood class of 2023 four-star quarterback Dylan Lonergan will throw for the South Carolina coaches on Thursday as part of a busy month for the No. 4 quarterback in the class.

Lonergan was originally offered by the previous South Carolina staff but was quickly re-offered by Beamer and Co. A star on the diamond as well, Lonergan is ranked the No. 12 player in the 2023 class and the No. 4 right-handed pitcher by Perfect Game and is being recruited by the Carolina baseball staff as well.

Zachary (La.) class of 2023 four-star quarterback Eli Holstein landed an offer from South Carolina in late May and will get the chance to meet the Gamecocks staff for the first time.

The 6-foot-3, 210-pounder has seen his stock rise in recent months and landed an offer from Ohio State earlier this week. It will be interesting to see the two potentially throw alongside each other.

** Sumter (S.C.) class of 2022 defensive end Davin Jackson is an intriguing prospect with Power 5 offers from Georgia Tech, N.C. State, Kansas and West Virginia.

The 6-foot-2, 240-pounder doesn't have prototypical size but makes up for it in production, drawing praise out of those in the Sumter program.

Jackson will work out for the Gamecocks' coach on Day 1 in hopes of earning an offer. I'm excited to get a look at him in person.

** New in-state target WR Chris Lawson, Jr. who recently moved to Ridge View High from the Charlotte area will work out with the Gamecocks on Thursday.

The class of 2023 prospect already had an offer from the former South Carolina staff and is getting to know the new one.

Born in Columbia, Lawson has moved around but now finds himself back in his hometown and right down the road from the Gamecocks, which could make him a prospect to keep a close eye on.

** Beaufort (S.C.) class of 2023 defensive tackle Eamon Smalls is another interesting prospect we'll be tracking at camp on Thursday.

The 6-foot-1, 330-pound nose tackle prospect had an offer from the Muschamp staff and has been staying in touch with the new staff and would like to firm up a re-offer with a strong camp performance on Thursday. To be clear, we're told he's on the list of prospects with offers from the Gamecocks, but today offers him the first chance to really get a feel for the new staff and them for him. According to Smalls, the message to him has been to stay patient.

** A strong crew of prospects from Deerfield Beach (Fla.) are expected in today - that's the home of current Gamecock LB Rosendo Louis. They always put out talent and appear to be loaded again.

Among those on the list are 2022 four-star RB Jaziun Patterson, 2023 four-star LB Jayvant Brown, and 2022 DT Alton Barber. As of now, Barber is the only one of th trio with an offer, but that could currently change.

** Another intriguing Florida top prospect to watch: Lincoln (Fla.) 2023 four-star LB Raylen Wilson. He's got a big, impressive early offer list and will check out the Gamecocks.

** Put us in the category of being intrigued to watch a local wide receiver who has created some buzz from the 7-on-7 circuit. Lower Richland class of 2023 WR Nate Branch is a slot receiver type with strong hands and quickness. I'm told he'll probably run somewhere in the 4.4s today in the 40 and South Carolina is aware of him, so he may be one of those in-state guys to keep an eye on as an offer candidate if he performs well today.

** In-state 2022 DB prospect Jacobie Henderson has a healthy list of Group of 5 offers to his name already and will work out with the hopes of adding South Carolina to that list today. He's a Catawba Ridge prospect up in Fort Mill.
