Hello all. Will Muschamp expected to meet with the media today in the new ops building at 4 p.m. to discuss national signing day and anything else our hearts desire.

Gamecocks have already announced three signees today—Jaquaze Sorrells, Jammie Robinson and Will Rogers—with one more left to go in Shilo Sanders. Muschamp will also talk about Xavier Leggette as well.

Updates are going to be in this post, so keep it locked here.

--"It's an exciting day to be a Gamecock. We got better today. As I say every year, we'll know more about this signing class in two to three years." Mentions that a lot of these guys will have a chance to compete right away.

On the signees, says all will make an impact.

Will Rogers: Came to camp, targeted early on and was measured at a 28-inch vertical, which not many offensive linemen can do. He'll be an interior lineman.
Jaquaze Sorrells: Has a tremendous work ethic, explosive and can play on the edge and inside. They felt "pretty good" about him throughout the process.
Jammie Robinson: Robinson has coverage ability but is a safety/nickel that's "very instinctive."
Shilo Sanders: Really only played the last two years in high school. Will be a defensive back but has return/receivers skills.
Xavier Legette: He's an explosive athlete that progressed tremendously in his senior season. Team's very excited about him.

--Team started the off-season workout that coaches can watch and Muschamp said he's already impressed with Zacch Pickens and the way he moves.

--Mentioning winning the state, he says they offered five players in South Carolina and signed all five. Team's doing a great job getting big players in the team's footprint of North Carolina, Georgia and Florida.

--Jakai Moore is athletic to play inside or outside but he'll start at tackle when he gets to campus. Jalen Nichols can play on the edge and outside as well.

--Devontae Davis can play inside and outside but starts right now at end. Rodricus Fitten is showcasing a lot of work ethic and Muschamp is pleased with his progress. Boykins is able to play man coverage as a linebacker and can really play in space.

--Jamel Cook is "doing a nice job" in his transfer year and Josh Belk is progressing well and the staff is excited about him. Both will count towards this class.

On the new coaches:
--Team is really excited about Thomas Brown jumping on board and keeping Bobby Bentley on staff will be a "seamless transition." John Scott was impressive in what Muschamp called a lengthy interview process and working in the NFL with Todd Bowles goes along way for Muschamp because of the respect he has for him.

--Asked about being able to close well in both periods, and Muschamp said he doesn't view it as closing. He sees it as completing the process.

"It's about the relationships you build and the comfort level a family has with you."

--On the defensive back group: "We're going to be young but we're going to be talented."

--Will Muschamp said he's really impressed with Stephon Gilmore and the run he had. Said he uses that in recruiting. He was also at the game.

--Jamel Cook has looked better now that the team's started its offseason workout plan and says he looks a little bit further along than he was last year. Muschamp said they're still figuring out where he'll play in terms of cornerback/safety but it's about getting the best guys on the field.

--Asked about the transfer portal, Muschamp said it's a little disturbing trend to see over 1,000 guys in the portal. He mentions the fact that he'd like to see 30 initial players in each class.

--Jake Bentley, Bryan Edwards and Donell Stanley all made "mature decisions" in coming back. Team will have an open competition for the backup quarterback spot.

--Eldridge Thompson is "still a part of the program." Still waiting for official word on his sixth-year of eligibility but they're confident in getting him back next season.

--Muschamp mentions injuries: Brunson had a procedure to clean up meniscus not cleared, Javon Kinlaw had that hip surgery and is not cleared, Jamyest Williams will be part of some non-contact stuff along with Thompson, D.J. Wonnum will be full speed. Rosendo Louis Jr. had shoulder surgery and will be out.

--Asked about John Scott and the interview process, said working at a few different places he knows how to teach a lot of things and has the same teaching method as Will Muschamp. He talked with a lot of high school coaches in areas where John Scott Jr. recruited and they had nothing but glowing things to say.
