Looks like the folks over at GABA want Boom to hire KJ's dad

The problem with buying loyalty is if you can do it,so can someone else. If he were playing great and another team offered his dad aa better job and dad bolts, junior will transfer and fo.low him. In the end,you spend all that money for dads salary and end up without the son playing for you anyway

From my perspective, the Bentley’s were very much a package deal. Not saying that’s good or bad. The presentation/perception was different though. The Henry package deal seems more Kardashian / Lavar Ball - esque, in the way it’s being offered to the highest bidder.

This move would make the Gamecocks and Muschamp a laughing stock.

So what? If we get a very good player and a decent coach out of the deal - then let people laugh.

KJs dad has an above a average resume for the 130 prospective oaches who will be hired as "tenth man" coaches after January 1. He also has HS connections in NC

I only care what others think about our play on the field - not what we do off the field

Cause I said so. If this request were made in private it would be different. Wreaks of desperation.

Not a good policy.
Depends. If the hire is based off of experience and potential and the coach goes on to become an asset then I see nothing wrong with it. After all, this coach has 11 years experience as a P5 position coach so there is a resume to evaluate.
But they should only hire him if they believe he can be an asset, not just to land a player.

Because of lack of rumors of OC hires and such (we knew Roper was our a week before it was announced, if coaches were on the move we’d know about it long before any announcement was made) I’m gonna play devils advocate and say this may happen:

McClendon to OC
Bentley to QB coach
Keith Henry to RB coach

I think a more high profile name for OC is worth more than hiring KH to get KJ but maybe that’s been the plan all along. Just because the kid announced he would take consideration in his commit if his dad was hired doesn’t mean he wasn’t telling coaches that all along.

Uhm, we have two positions open: Offensive coordinator AND coach #10.

If we only had one slot, I would be opposed to the hire, but he would be filli g the 10 slot; not the OC slot

Yes I know his just saying this could be a scenario for where each person has skills. Bentley use to be a QB coach. His son at Byrnes threw for 71TDs his senior season in 2013. I’d like to see Thompson get some help as the 10th coach, maybe a DT coach. Or rushing specialist

The player should have nothing at all to do with it. There are too many circumstances that could render a player unusable for four years - his maximum contribution anyway.

Here's the thing....it's not like KJ Henry is the next Clowney. He's a good defensive player, but Muschamp is an excellent defensive coach and we will have a strong defense with or without Henry because we are landing solid players already. Are there any 5-star running backs out there asking for a package deal with their Dad? Seriously, this team needs a Marcus Lattimore type player (who, by the way, would never have put out a request like this). That would make a huge impact for us.

Has a decent resume and comes with a 5* player as a package, sign me up!

Remember we had a coach who supposedly was going to open up N. C. with all his connections in N. C. hs. Didn't happen as far as I can recall. Deke flamed out as a dl coach and as a recruiter.

KJ is in the top 10 players in the country in all the recruiting services, we have yet to sign a player that is in the top 100, I would say go for it. Especially when we have to play UGA and Clemson every year. He is a WDE or OLB both of which we could use especially if we can't get Tindall. There weren't any Lattimores available in this class but we have a good shot at 5* RB crouch next year.

Cha Cha slide and I’ll sign -Latti to SOS

Who says KJ is worth hiring hiring his father? Rivals? 247? Should we have hired Demetrius summers or Ricardo Hurley’s fathers? First, Muschamp would have to decide if kJ is a make or break type athlete. Second is kj’s dad the type coach the program needs. Last is it worth any backlash or drama that it may cause the program. Too many ‘what if’s’and drama.I pass get Jackson and coach him up

Well let's see KJ is a 5* recruit on every recruiting website, he is 6-5, he is being recruited very heavily by Muschamp so obviously he wants him and feels like he's a great kid. All we have to do is hire his dad as our 10th assistant? Do you want to beat Clemson? 90-17 somethings got to change, I will take 5 star over 3 star every day of the week. Also you act like his dad is a horrible coach that will ruin our program, he has 20 year experience coaching in North Carolina.

Never said his dad was a good coach or bad coach. You seem to struggle with reading comprehension. You also missed the point that just because a recruiting service labels a kid as a ‘superstar/program changer’ doesn’t mean it’s so. Not to mention, how foolish would Muschamp look if he hired his dad, and he signed elsewhere?

How many 5 stars do we have in the bag? How many four stars do we have in the bag?

Bottom line is talent wins! Look at UGA, look at Bama and look at Taterville??? Those three teams are in the playoffs this year.

We need to do a reality check folks. Does heart and hustle win games or does talent win games? If you believe Muschamp can win with 3 level talent because of his motivation and coaching skills...you are wrong.

Reality is that the taters are going after pure talent and winning. I get it...ebbs and flows...we had a high five and they will get theirs. But can we wait another 20 years to be relevant?

We just need to be realistic. Are we currently a top 10 program or are we just skating by?

Let's do what we can to change this culture of being irrelevant as a football program.
