W/ Chiefs DE Frank Clark being arrested on a felony illegal firearm possession charge, it may open the door for the Chiefs to sign MI-6. The length of Clark’s suspension will play a big role in how the Chiefs proceed. If the league imposes a suspension, Clark’s salary cap hit of $25.8M for this year comes off the books for the length of the suspension: 4 of 17 games would free up about $5M in 2020 cap space. If he’s indefinitely suspended by the league, the whole cap hit disappears.
The Chiefs are unlikely to release him, as that only saves $500k on the cap for 2020 & leaves them stuck w/ his pro-rated bonus for next year against the cap in “dead money”.
We shall see, but Chiefs’ podcasts are talking about MI-6 as an option. FWIW.
