Memphis fires Tubby Smith

Talk about a tough crowd. Tubby is there 2 years going 19-13 and 21-13 and he get's fired.
I'm going to repeat that for effect, 21 wins and he get's fired.

Crowd wasn't a fan of Tubby. Plus, Penny Hardaway is back in town and has mentioned he'd like the position...Penny also is close with a couple top recruits in the area and they think he'll bring them with him or at least keep them away if Tubby stays.

If Memphis could stomach Josh Pastner for as long as they did, then they should have been a lot more patient with Tubby. Tubby is a much better coach than Josh pastner could ever hope to be.

I hope they hire Penny Hardaway and then lose big. They deserve it.

Tubby is 66. Wouldn’t be surprised to see him go to Georgia. However he can’t have too many seasons left in him. You don’t see a ton of 70 year old basketball coaches. The grind of college basketball season is tough on anyone, much less guys pushing 70.

He absolutely had it made at uga. One of the few times the place was on fire for bb. He would have had a long and successful run, imo.
