We don’t have a point guard as has been stated, #6 tries but can’t get it done, we have few outside threats, Boyles does a lot of good things but turns the ball over a lot, and Stute hasn’t shown up on the offensive end. We do play hard defense most of the time. The team doesn’t seem to “gel” if you know what I mean. Sill hope. Got to get going fast and get off the bottom rung of the conference.
FK'n' Fat Frank is 5-8 at UMass this year. He was certainly NOT a Clean Coach in HS in So. Fla. His FFF nickname WAS NOT derived from his physical appearance.
Give Paris a chance. Afterall y'all accepted a verbal abuser for Ten "FFF" Years!

Being a good coach is about player retention and building a team this year. Next year will always be a rebuild with NIL here.
Retaining GOOD players, a good coach makes players better. That is the reason you even have coaches. They are NOT just supposed to manage a game!

The lack of retention turns me off to the over pampered, over hyped, sports Brats that 90% are. (BAMA has a WBB player in her 7th year of CBB and at her 4th College.)
Teams no longer build, they buy.
These are only two of the reasons why I lost interest in the NFL & NBA. LOL ... Talk'N' heads are a big part as well. Unfortunately, I already see the end of college football.

My opnion is obviously not approved with by most on here, but hey, at least last night's game was another Moral Victory.. I think they have lke 5 or 6 SEC Moral victories, WELL DONE!! I'm in agreement with you COD, his first year and third year seem to be on the same level, and it's looking more and more like the second year was a fluke. I really don't understand the mindset, continuous moral victories don't count in the polls or recruiting or purchasing of players. I just hope this new AD doesn't wait until the 4th wheel falls off before pulling the plug. Martin received way too much time as coach as all 4 tires had fallen off along with the spare and the new set that was purchased
EXACTLY!!!!!! I say it is way to early to let him go, but unlike most posters on here, i dont think he is the next coming of John Wooden or Red Auerbach.... But like you said, SC cant wait as long as they did on the last coach to cut ties, UNLESS they want to continue to be bottom of SEC in this program. Maybe they are okay with "Moral Victories", if so, they are gonna have many of them to be satisfied with..
I am only a disgruntled fan, I dont have to make those decisions.... Maybe the new AD will show a little BackBone and not give him an ENDLESS leash...

I like Paris and I dont think he needs to be replaced at this point in time. I think hes a good coach. That said, we cant continue to lose by a point or two or three without winning some of those. To lose every one can clearly be attributed to in-game coaching. I have always felt that way regardless of the sport. If I were coaching a baseball team and I lost every close game I played on the schedule by one run, I would definitely be thinking that's on me. I would be like if I had done one thing (this or that) differently, we could have and should have won that game. Now I dont know if he has taken any responsibility for these close losses but I hope he has. That said, I also hope he can turn this thing around. Yeah we are being competitive but I really do hate to see this. I would imagine to continue on this path has to be demoralizing to the team.

I dont see any POSTERS on here saying "FIRE HIM NOW" however, IMO you cant give him an unlimited leash because he had a "GOOD" season last year.. THEY Fired Fogler for continuing to lose in first round of Madness. Hell it doesnt look like that will be an issue..
They fired Fogler because they didn't get along. They would have love to have kept him otherwise.
Paris just signed a new contract, COD. That's the "leash" in very clear terms.
We have had two starters out and have been playing some of the best teams in the country.
To the coaching staff's credit, most of these games have been very tight.
Our recruiting has been around 3rd from the basement the last couple of years.
Paris needs more cash to buy talented players like these other teams - Arkansas, UK, Florida, etc.
College Basketball typically uses 7-9 players in rotation.
If you're purchasing studs and have a decent coaching staff, you'll probably travel with that recipe.

If you're only dealing with a small handful of players and that handful of players wasn't believed to be as good as the handful of players the other team you're playing bought, isn't it logical there's a good chance you aren't going to be able to make up that difference with Xs and Os in most games?

We've only played one-third of our SEC schedule.
All of the games we've played have been against teams who would be in the NCAA tournament if it started today.
Of those six games played, three have been top 5 teams and lost to two of them in heart-beakers.
We've had to starters injured as well.
We need to get you a Pinata.

Like i said, I am very disappointed with the Team So far, and I am just saying, DONT give him (Paris) an unlimited leash like you did Martin (because of one Flash in pan year). IMO it is a lot of blame that goes on the Coaching staff when you are losing like you are.. AND SO FAR they are WINLESS... and to be honest, not looking good for getting many more chances ar SEC wins.. Maybe against Arky in March or Georgis next week. The guys who either played and/or coach basketball are also stating that the coaching looks fine and we have a talent issue.
The players are in place. The ball is moving. There just aren't hitting shots with consistency and they are also turning it over too much.
We're probably not going to win alot of games this year because we don't have the horses.
Last season, Paris and his staff took a bunch of guys who had no business winning 26 games and won 26 games.
This year, the team chemistry is not there as much because we lost many key players which has previously been touched on.
If you are interested consistent performance year-to-year from our basketball teams, you need cash money to buy high quality players like some of these other teams I've listed.
First off, I didnt say YOU gave him (martin) a leash, I think SOUTH CAROLINA gave him too long of a leash. And unfortunatley, Paris picks his talent, If he has none, so that is MY PRBLEM?? Either way, I will quit arguiing with you on this... In your opinion the program is in good hands and you are okay with them losing these games. IMO i am not okay with all the losses piling up. That's the genesis of a sports forum.
I'm not trying to give you the business.
It was just my opinion that we shouldn't be piling on a coach with limited talent who took us to the NCAA after an 8-year drought, received coach of the year, and won the most games in school history the year prior.
If we're hanging close against Top 5 teams, we can't suck. We just need a little more chemistry and talent to get over the hump.
Bottom line: We don’t have many players that can score and we do not have high quality guard play.
I think the defense and rebounding is alright. Good enough if we could score.
