Read entirely before torching me!

Clempson coaching staff taking a normally pass happy team that winds up with a complete bust at QB, a mediocre OL, and an injury decimated WR core, and turning it into a run-first 9 win team mid season is nothing short of impressive. I know, I know, their roster isn’t exactly a bare cupboard. But, they completely revamped (and won) with a team they didn’t expect to have.

Now before you start calling me a tater, I start doing meth, and dating my sister…I am wondering (and hoping) if we have the staff to do the same? Just as an elite QB can win games in spite of its team, an elite coaching staff can do the same.

You're totally right, a team that has had the same regime for over a decade having the running backs to carry a team against a bad run defense ran by a first season staff proves the latter is sorry. You need talent to win, period. Our crappy OL neutralized 4 future NFL DL to the tune of only allowing 1 sack, that's right ONE. They used their defense to key on the run and force the pass, the OL held up and receivers ran open until late in the fourth when they could focus on the pass more. We were given a challenge by a team with a load of talent, to pass on them, and we didn't have the QB to take what they gave us because they figured out what we are. The coaches can't overcome an utter lack of execution at a position where they inherited one QB who had have reps. It sucks, but we can't expect a bright future that doesn't involve some suck in the meantime and the options realistically are to either except it or promote instability and turmoil, which will only prolong it. If Beamer is the answer we need to give him time and support, if he isn't, we have him in the meantime anyway. Truth is, this season in totality offers more proof that he's the answer than that he isn't.

All great points, and I’m definitely not giving up on this staff, but I wasn’t just referring to this game, rather the entirety of their season. Looking at their roster (and historically) you can obviously tell they are not built as a rushing team yet they *slowly* found a way to do so throughout the season culminating in solid showings the last two games.

To switch gears, take Wake Forrest. Their season is not creation of superior talent, rather a feat of coaching and scheme. That coaching staff is the true talent of that team. Beamer up at Virginia Tech always appeared to do more with less.

I guess what I’m saying is I’m not convinced talent is the road out of this. Talent is flaky and gravitates to the shiny objects. Outside of illegal activity, it’s hard to generate interested talent out of thin air. Winning games with superior coaching is the beacon that gravitates the talent to you.
