Larry Graham is the original slap bass player. He came about his style as many genius artist do. He needed to fill a void in the sound because of a loss of accompaniment. I play alone lost if the time , and it becomes necessary to implement different methods to play off rhythms. I play more of a lead bass with added bottom as a result of my void . Jimi Hendrix had to learn how to play upside down because there were no left handed guitars 🎸. Anyway back to Larry. He not only helped catapult Sly and The Family Stone with his unique bass Stylings; He created a sound that would grow into the basis of Funky without being on the One ☝️.
