I want to preface this by saying that I am by no means an insider, this is just my personal opinion…

I think that Sat is essentially gone and the official announcement has not been made yet. With that being said, I think the reason why it has not been officially announced is that the person that Beamer wants to hire still has games to play. To me, that guy would be Barry Lunney Jr at UTSA.

I know the big name right now for many is Zach Kittley at WKU and while I would personally not be opposed to that hire, I think that doesn’t fit what Beamer likes. Beamer has directly stated on multiple occasions he likes to have the ability to line up and run the ball and make the other team stop your physicality which wouldn’t fit the bill under the air raid.

Lunney’s system fits the bill of what Shane would want in my opinion with a physical style of offense that is also balanced. He runs a power spread scheme that is reminiscent of Oklahoma. The UTSA offense is up to 30th in the nation right now after being close to the bottom before Lunney arrived. He is also a good recruiter.

Again, I have no inside info and this is just what I’ve pieced together from what I’ve seen and heard on the boards.

Wouldn’t mind that hire. I wouldn’t exactly call OUs offense a power spread. It’s basically the air raid with the run game based around counter instead of zone or duo like most air raid.

What benefit do you have to keep a person in the OC position because the future OC is still working somewhere?

I would get the argument for not announcing a new OC. But that logic doesn't justify keeping the prior OC longer.

A well thought-out post. Thanks for sharing.

I think it’s also wanting Satt to be able to hit contacts for another job and maybe not wanting other coaches to poach your hire. There’s rarely ever 1 factor in any decision.

Lunney would be a good hire. His offense is balanced, which I believe is the best kind of offense. I remember Lunney when he was a QB at Arkansas. I believe Lunney and White would make a good combo and could lead this program to great success in the SEC.

Giving Satterfield time to find a new job is what I have felt is going on. If that is actually the case, we just have to be patient (and "patience" is not something I have much of). It is what it is.

I could easily see the transition being kept quiet.

One concern is with the massive movement this off-season, lots of guys see multiple openings and may be holding out for another job.

I really think the offensive woes are more at the feet of OL coaching then overall coaching and scheme, so I'm not on the "Satt must be fired" train, but if we make the move I like this scenario.

It will be the clearest sign that this university is not serious about having a football program that is nationally relevant. It will be saying that this university is all about grifting the SC football fan base, making that fan base suckers.
You should probably pack your things and move on right now then. Just saying.

Another theory: I think Satterfield continues as our OC.
I tend to agree. Beamer can literally say that our running backs were injured, we were transitioning to a different blocking scheme, our perceived starting QB was injured, Muschamp didn't leave any wr's worthy of scholarships, and that despite all that they are going to a bowl. Ray will eat it up like a catfish.

Well, you know what PT Barnum said.

Weirdly, when I said Roper sucked on this board, I got lots of pushback. Even when all the evidence was in, people said he was awesome right up until he got fired. Of course they said he sucked afterwards.

But there are only a couple of people defending Satterfield. Draw your own conclusions.

One of our top returning RBs had off season knee surgery.

Another had back surgery.

We finished the season with our third string QB due to (2) injuries.

Beamer literally kept on coaching and made no excuses.

And now, back to you bitches.

Go Cocks!

True! No other programs had injuries and no other coaches continued coaching when they had injuries. Amazing.

And yet those same coaches kept trotting out those two injured and recovering RBs while ignoring White and his production for multiple games.
