NCAA clears Art Briles

Q z
Culpable but has not and shouldn't get the death penalty like his father. Jr would certainly be a head coach at this point in his career if not for this mess. Jr has paid a heavy price for being on that staff.
Not heavy enough.

"One other item from the lawsuit getting a lot of attention is a quote from former Baylor assistant Kendal Briles, who is the son of former Bears head coach Art Briles.

Here’s the quote, as shared by the Dallas Morning News:

Former assistant coach Kendal Briles — the son of the head coach — once told a Dallas area student athlete, “Do you like white women? Because we have a lot of them at Baylor and they love football players,” according to the suit.
That’s a despicable quote and it embodies the concerning culture of sexual assault allegedly fostered by Baylor’s football program under Briles."

My guess would be that just about every college coach privately tells recruits they have tons of great looking women on campus (except maybe the service academies) that love football players.

I think it’s a stretch connecting that statement to “ a climate of sexual assault”. Are college football coaches responsible for the amount of sex going on at a college campus?

If so I’m blaming Brad Scott for my bad luck in college….LOL.

That's my point... If Art did something that violated rules or policy of the NCAA 5 years ago, then no one will remember them... Without out asking Mr. Google, I have no clue what Art Briles did 5 years ago...

Time heals all wounds, unless you lose to Clemson on a no call push off TD catch...
Gotcha.

If Saban thinks Briles can help Alabama football, he’d hire him in a minute. People forget the bad stuff as time passes if you win. Saban wins.

I went to Texas, but my Dad played for TCU in the late 1930s. When TCU won their NC with Davy O'Brien, Ki Aldrich and I.B. Hale. So by 1975, TCU really sucked during the last Jim Shofner years. TCU was 1-10 in 1975 year, but they played Texas A&M tough. A&M was undefeated and highly ranked and destined for a bowl game against Southern Cal. It was late in the game and A&M only led TCU by 14-6. Mike Renfro was a 3 time All-SWC and 2nd team All-American WR for TCU, quite a feat on a team with almost no wins. You may remember Renfro later playing in the NFL on some good Houston Oiler teams and later for the Dallas Cowboys.

So late in the game, TCU is on the A&M 20, they get Renfro isolated on a cornerback, throw it high in the end zone, both Renfro and the corner jump for the pass, some bumping naturally, and Renfro catches it for the TD. The referee calls both offensive and defensive interference on the same play. Ridiculous. But SWC official was protecting the conference for a big bowl game payout. No other explanation. My dad was still mad about that call decades later. No pushing, nothing but both players going up for the ball. Now maybe TCU might not make the two point conversion, but they should have had the chance.
