1. A "sticky thread" for feedback would help.
2. A "home" button would be convenient.
3. What does a flashing white square next to the username at the top right mean?
4. I have already chimed in about the light gray text.

We have a home button to get to the main page. Look at the top left hand corner on the navigation bar, and it's the icon that looks like a house. You can get back to the forums by clicking "Back to threads/forum" when you're reading/making/replying to a post.

Flashing square probably means you have new alerts. Is it next to the "flag" icon? If so, you can mouse over it to see your notifications.

How do you get back from the "Latest alerts" page?

You can either just hit back on your web browser after you view the alerts - or if you've actually clicked on a thread that was in your alerts page, you can use the forum's "Back to Threads/Forum" button.

The "Latest alerts" page needs a "Back to Threads/Forum" button.

I can pass that on; truthfully it would be the same amount of steps as hitting back on your browser and does the same function. I tested out the browser back button to make sure I wasn't speaking out of turn there.

I have found that when I double click my flag it goes to the "latest alerts" page. From there the browser back button takes me back to where I was when I clicked the flag. I am saying I would like a "Back to Threads/Forum" button.
