No coach that Ray hires will come close to his

We should've hired Monte when we had the chance instead of letting him go to our rival.

What has he done that is special? He's yet to make a Super Regional at Clemson and has lost 4 straight this week.
some people fall for the hype. ML is a good coach as indicated by his time at COC. But I believe we have a good one also. Time will only tell how it will play out. I still remember the frustrating years with Tanner but in the end it was great.

What frustrating years with Tanner? Even in the years he did not make Omaha, his teams won a ton of games.

Frustrating because I was thinking we would end in Omaha some years. However, I probably used "frustrated" wrong in my statement. Maybe disappointed would be better. RT was probably disappointed also.

accomplishments. Could this be by design?

Right now everything is a mindset. We are in every game with another coach’s players. If our program loses to Chapel Hill fake college by 20 runs, then I wouldn’t be very happy. Our bull pen is a bunch of freshman.

Those mid 2000s when we didn't make it to a certain city, when we arguably had some of our best lineups ever.

Those lineups had serious pitching issues. When W.Pelzer was our best pitcher, that says a lot. That's the reason those bombing lineups couldn't make it to Nebraska.

We should have fired Tanner in 2009! I'll never forgive the NC State Regional loss!

Don't fool yourself Ray was a great game coach but 99% of the recruiting and the talent we had was because of Coach Jim Toman. What USC did was a combined effort but coach Toman and coach Meyers were very big contributors to ALL our success!

Yep you caught Ray in a conspiracy he only hires slacker coaches to protect his legacy as baseball coach. I knew something was fishy. If that was the case he would have left Chad alone wouldn't he?

I could blow up the thread right now, but I'm too busy.

He has to keep shuffling the paperwork,so to speak, so he'll look like he's in tune with the sentiment of FGF.

Wow.... Rod and King turning on the new coach.

Imagine that!!!
Not if I was applying the adjective to the team itself, which I was, in answer to another poster who invoked the term "stupid". I happen to believe that losing to the Citadel is more in the line of "incompetent" than "stupid".

I can't quite figure what has happened to our team. Someone above mentioned Toman. Is *his* recruiting the missing cog? I thought it was CCH's recruiting under CRT that made the wheels go 'round. But, once Holbrook took over, well, we don't seem to have any stellar talent on the roster. CMK is dealing with that now. I guess it remains to be seen what kind of recruiting CMK can muster. We desperately need some more of Roth, Price, Wingo, Tanner, Pancake, Greiner, Marzilli's and the like. We are simply going to have to wait and see.

It takes a while to change players approach at the plate...mechanics, stance, grip, vision....not to mention the mental aspects. There is not a quick solution. Most of these players have spent 2/3 years learning a poor approach at the plate. If you've been a contact hitter your whole playing career because you've never been a power hitter....it's easy. But to take a power hitter and make them into a good contact hitter....that's tough.

Most of these kids probably had good power numbers coming out of HS....that's what gets attention. The approach under CCH was terrible....after his third year I wanted him out. You could see the decline in mechanics, etc...at the plate.

Lost SR final 3-2 (or was it 2-1?) to ooh-la-la.

But that was 2000 or '01.

Everyone, including you, would be yelling at how Monte was a bad choice after Clempson got swept at home by NC State this past weekend.

Everyone's opinion is so fickle and short-lived.
Being swept by a conference opponent is easier to swallow than losing to the teams we've lost to.
