Odom & Horn put the basketball program in a hole so deep

Re: No. Do you? *

Absolutely not... But Obama has had time enough to take blame, Hasnt Martin?? and again, i never have bashed him nor this basketball team... But at some point someone needs to be held accountable. NO reason this team shouldnt be better, at least better on the record book. How long does he deserve to get?? I have no clue, am i saying i think he needs to be replaced?? NO, but i do think it is worthy of questioning... And it definitely isnt Dave Odom';s fault (LOL)..

First of all, Horn may or may not have done the program any good or bad. Since Frank McGuire South Carolina has won 1 championship in a conference. That was under Fogler and a short lived, but happy to have, stint of success. But more accurately you are way off on Coach Odom. As are most people on this board. He took Carolina to it's last NCAA appearance. He won two national tournament titles, for which there are trophies in the trophy room, back to back and Is the last coach since Frank McGuire to put a first round draft pick into the NBA.

Odom was like Holtz. Did a good job early. A disaster late. Of course the difference is Mike McGee hired Spurrier to replace Holtz.

Hyman made a mockery of our program by extending Odom contract, praising him publicly, then hiring Horn, then giving him an extension. That damage is long lasting and we are still paying the price.

The idea that Odom was a bad coach at South Carolina is, frankly, ridiculous.

He took us to the NCAAs in 2004, then won the NIT in 2005 and 2006. He also made the finals of the SEC tournament

Do you even begin to fathom how far we are from that right now? Making the NCAA? WINNING the NIT? Making it to the SEC tournament championship game? We can't even sniff that from here.

Exactly. Odom is at worst the third best coach in our history. Possibly the second.

Horn is the worst coach is ourt schools history and possibly the worst coach hired at a major college. I don't think the average fan can truely appreciate how terrible he was.

The jury is out on Martin. He ran off Horn's players (I know they weren't very good) but this team is all his recruits. He owns the mess. Until horns last year no SEC team (and the SEC has been around since 1933) had ever recorded 14 sec loses in a season. Horn did it, Martin has done it and we are own pace to do it 3 times in 4 years.

I know Martin has the programs better than Horn but not much and unfortunately this is HIS team.

This. I wish we had those teams right now. Odom left Horn a great team and we should have made the NCAA's his first year. It was our OOC schedule that killed us.
