Of course anything is possible in this day and age of college football conference realignment.

But, I can't help but wonder if the ACC and BIG would try and poach some SEC teams, because (at least to my understanding) it doesn't cost anything to get out of the SEC. A team in the SEC could leave tomorrow without penalties. Maybe Mizz to the BIG, they might be a better fit there; us and Vandy to the ACC (but no way in heck do I want to see us leave) plus some other teams to other conferences.

Realistically Vandy doesn’t move the needle for the ACC. If there is anyone that really makes sense for the ACC to poach it’s Kentucky. Kentucky has always been basketball first (like a lot of ACC schools). Losing Kentucky basketball would be a significant blow to the SEC. Kentucky is centrally located in an ACC that now stretches up the Eastern US. Kentucky could also compete better with the recent money they’ve poured into football.

If I were the Big 10, I would approach a Missouri and maybe even a Texas A & M. Not sure the Aggies would bolt, but they could keep their “identity” and leave Texas once again. However it wouldn’t be as advantageous as being in the SEC.

Good post. Definitely good to discuss.

Freddie- Walking away from the most stable and rich conference in football would be foolish. Not happening.

Freddie, the fact that the SEC doesn't have an exit fee speaks volumes about the conference. It's simply inconceivable that anyone would ever leave.

And if our Athletic Department was stupid enough to EVEN SLIGHTLY CONSIDER SUCH, I Swear I'd become a humiliated and shamed graduate and would DEMAND a Fully Clean and then Properly Staffed House from that very moment forward!!

The ACC has to figure out football. Right now, all they've got is Clemson and FSU and football pays the bills. In regional games would your rather watch UNC vs UVA or a game with Georgia vs Auburn?

In my opinion the ACC will not exist as it is now in 4 years. Maybe less.

It's going to be interesting to me to see how FSU "fairs" in the next couple of years in football. I personally think they are a long long way from being the FSU of the Bobby Bowden days.

They have a lot of natural advantages, but would do much better in the SEC. It would decimate Florida though.
