Why a tie?

For starters, Steve Wadiak had, at the time, the greatest rushing performance in school history with 256 yards on 19 carries.

Also, it was the only blemish on the 9-0-1 Tiger's record...if there ever was a time for a tie to ruin a perfect season, this would be one of those times.

Third, rare video of Wadiak rushing in the game.


It's a shame this Wadiak memorabilia is tucked away in the bowels of Williams-Brice.

Here’s a trophy for Wadiak earned for the “Outstanding Player” of the homecoming game in 1949. In the background is another trophy with Wadiak’s name on it.
