Daughters car having steering issues, and I don't trust mechanics. She is going to Midas right now to get an inspection and estimate.

It dang sure wouldn't be Midas:

Thanks. Yeah, I didn't know about the whole Midas thing, but she said that they guy helped her last time and seemed like she trusted him. I told her to get an estimate and hold off for now.

My daughter is a student at USC. These guys have taken care of a few problems and treated her right. A couple of incidents where they could have easily taken advantage of a college student and charged her a lot more for services that could be explained, but weren't really needed. And they have always fixed the problem the first time. Seem to be good folks. Give then a shot.

Take the already given advice - stay away from Midas. The guy your daughter knows at Midas is probably a good guy but there's much more experience and reliability at other places - such as personal recommendations that you will get here on this site. Good luck.

Appreciate all the feed back. I talked to her and gave her options of different places to take it to. The problem, as I figured it was based on the bumping/popping when she turned corners, was tie rods and ball joints. My first car was a Honda Accord and did that for 3 years. She was quoted 650.00 to replace tie rods, ball joints, headlights replaced, tire rotation, and oil change. I told her that wasn't too bad because I have seen some shops charge 400-600 alone for tie rods and ball joint replacement. (depending on make/model, could be more than that). She has an extremely busy schedule with internship and classes and said she just wants to get it done and over with while she has the money. She said she would rather get it done now, than to pay a hundred dollars less after taking it to 3 different places. Oh well, her money I guess.

is your daughter's car japanese, german or detroiter?

If she has a Honda, she needs to go to Tommy Barnhill on Old Bush River Road - very honest mechanic and he is an all Honda guy - actually I was referred to him many years ago by Honda Cars of Columbia - have never looked back - exceptionally honest and he will fix your car to your satisfaction.
