Beamer Inks Contract Extension

Spurrier would have only made it twice? I'm curious what circumstances would have kept that third team out.
As it turns out, back then several SEC teams were very good. But back then, the SEC may have been able to get 4 teams in the top 12 instead of 3.

Looking at the NCAA rankings,
In 2012, there were 8 12 win teams and 8 other 11 win teams. There were 3 SEC teams ranked higher than we were and Florida had beat us that season so that would mean 4 SEC teams ahead of us so that would have kept them out.

In 2011 we had lost 2 SEC games so UGA, 7-1, would have won the east with their 1 loss to us, but we were still the 3rd highest SEC team overall.

In 2013, Missouri won the East with 1 SEC loss to us but we were still ranked over them. We were the 2nd highest SEC team that year behind Auburn.

The SEC would have definitely gotten at least 4 teams in back then.

The SEC was just really bad this year and everyone knew it.

Back then you still had the PAC-12 so there might have probably been 6 Conf. champs guaranteed spots.
SEC, PAC-12, BIG TEN, BIG 12, ACC, BIG EAST. And you also had the MWC with Boise St. and ND as an IND. That is 8 spots.
Just not sure there would be room for SEC to have 4 in it becaue the PAC-12 and ACC might both have 2 in it.

The SEC was not "REALLY BAD". We just did really crappy in the Bowls and the CFP. If that is what you mean.
As far as the season goes, having to play 8 other SEC teams hurt all of our standings because we played such a tough schedule.
Boise St and the ACC teams had their usual easy schedules. I did not think the BIG TEN should have had 4 teams in it this year, but being OSU won, they will claim they deserved to be there.

Good move by our athletic administration. Yeah, I like beating Clemson. But to me , that's just one game, an important game, but just one.

The bottom line is that Beamer EARNED the new contract. If ANYTHING, he MIGHT be underpaid. Personally, I believe that Beamer's contract is a "down payment" expecting big once said ....

Hefty increase (GAMBLE???) .... 1st line sums it up!

The fact is that coaches and players are paid too much money. That's especially true compared to other occupations. But people who buy the tickets and watch on television value being entertained over other things. I don't agree with those choices. But, I'm only one person.
