These trees used to grow in the wild all over the Lowcounty and beyond. I'll bet most of you have never heard of this fruit. I know where several trees are. The problem is that you have to beat the possums to 'em. They will strip a tree in a couple of hours. BTW: persimmons that aren't ripe will turn your mouth inside out they are so bitter. Stay away from unripe persimmons. I've only seen one pomegranate tree my life in one of my great aunt's back yard. It was full of them that were ripe and she showed us how you had to eat them and spit out the seeds. My paternal grandmother had a crabapple tree that made fruit but they were NOT good to eat.
