on how to get the most out of it? Real excited about finally getting to visit Augusta!

definitely walk around see the sites and different holes. end up hanging out at the sixteen green.

If you want to see the whole course do it early in the day. The later it gets the harder it is to get a good view. I usually pick an early group and follow them, then later find a hole you like and watch the later groups come thru.

If you want souvenirs, if the main merchandise area is not crowded when you arrive, shop then and leave your goods at the "coat check" stand nearby. There is no charge for that service. There are some small items, like hats, t-shirts and towels, available just outside of the gate. Be sure to check out the range (not a bad place to have lunch). Also, behind the clubhouse is the main putting green and then there is the big oak - this is where most of the interviews are conducted. You will see many players and notables having lunch in the roped off area behind the clubhouse. Another great spot to take a break or have lunch is the grandstand behind #12 tee, if there are seats available.

I believe that the merchandise area stills sells a yardage book, though now a fancier, glossier version than was sold years ago. Interesting to have one of those in-hand to get a feel for yardages as you walk around.

There will also be pairings sheets available (with a course map on them) as you leave the concession are to walk onto the actual course where the giant leaderboard will be located on your right-hand side.

It is an amazing place to visit for the first time. HD tv helped, but it is still impossible to get a feel for the course on tv. The elevation changes are unbelievable.

Enjoy!!!

i've been to some 100 competitive rounds . My advise:

If you want to see the course get there early and walk the backnine first thing. You won't run into a lot of patrons for and hour or so.

The best opportunity to see the players up close is the putting green and behind to tee boxes on holes 8, 9, and 11.

Skip hole # 5 as it just isn't worth the walk. It's going to be soft so wear your golf shoes and sunscreen.

Pace yourself as it can be a long day even in GOLF HEAVEN. As good as it looks on t.v., being at the Augusta National

is only a dream for most golfers.

Lastly, enjoy watching the golf, the course and the women!

It sucks......really, really bad!! You'd absolutely hate it if you went. But I'll save you all the pain and nausea, just give me the ticket and I'll take care of it for you........

Get there as early as you can.. Take your time and walk the course in the am and find a good spot to let them play thru you later.
You will see the Tourney in a much different light, after you walk the hallowed grounds
You've reached the Pinnicle of Golf now........ ENJOY !!!!

Great advice. I agree. I also recommend hitting the souvenir shops as soon as you get there, pick out what you want and wait to buy it on your way out to keep from lugging stuff around all day.

Also, don't plan on taking chairs in unless you have some Masters chairs. They won't let you take the others in.

Focus on the course, not the players. Too many people there to follow the players anyway.

Stay home and watch it on television. It will be crowded, HOT, and the walking will simply drain you. Plus, it is simply boring compared to what you can see on television. Also, when it is over, you can simply walk to the refrigerator rather than walking miles to get to your car and then fighting all of the traffic on Washington Road.

It's no doubt easier to keep up with the actual tournament on television. I've never been on a Sunday and to me, that would be the worst day to go to. In terms of actually watching the tournament, you're right, it's not as good as tv. I love it though. Never heard anyone say negative things about it like this.

Be sure and holler - " IN THE HOLE ! " - preferably after they have taken their swing.

i had the pleasure of seeing Sergio and Tiger play there. one of the best holes for me was the par three with a small pond on it. not sure which # it was. after they played the hole they came back and played closest to the pin by skipping it over the water.
very neat to watch. and the hole had bleachers on it, so you could take a load off.

Or "YOU DA MAN!!!". How low must an IQ be to do that stuff.

16 maybe? Where Tiger hit that chip 10 years ago?

If able, buy all the gear & souvenirs you think you might want and can afford. It's good stuff and will last forever with proper care. If you're like me, you never know when, or if, you'll be back. Enjoy!

Correction: buy all the needlepoint belts you can afford then turn around and sell them to Yankees on Ebay for $100 profit. Will pay for your entire trip in the end.

This, and landing spots are great locations. We did not bother anyone, but rather were engaged several times by gokfers and their caddies while they waited for their next shot.

Re: Thanx everyone!

I like standing behind the 6th green and then you can watch them tee off 7. I like behind the tee box at 12 you can watch the 11th green and all of 12. I like watching the 8th green. If you want to watch them drive the ball go to the #2 tee box and watch them pound the ball. The stands beside the 15th green are nice because you can watch the tee shots on 16. The stands on the left.

Don't take your wife. The rest of your life will be spent hearing from her "why can't you make our yard look like Augusta National"?

Leave your cell phone in the car.

Have fun!

The pair of coozies my mom bought for me at the Masters are easily my favorite coozies I've ever owned. They have little magnets on them to stick to my fridge and hug my beers perfectly.

High class stuff.

I have been to several practice rounds and walked the whole course. It is beyond outstanding! A friend took me one Sunday. His method is park behind the 5th green. Walk down to the 4th green. Watch every golfer play the 4th hole then be back home in Columbia to watch the back nine on TV. It was great!
