Any chance of modifying or getting any money back? Can’t even change names.

Don’t depend on a fickle 18 year old granddaughter who loses her driver’s license is just one issue.

If you cancel them you get a credit. It seems like Most airlines don’t have change fees right now. Pretty sure By law you can never change the name on a ticket.

They won’t credit. Either fly or the ticket has no value.

Maybe I’m dumb but what do you mean by this
She lost her driver’s license. Need the one with a star (real ID) to identify you for the TSA. Also let her passport expire. Fickle because she didn’t get back to my wife to work out the details. The trip is a gift (both are going together) but she is not putting much effort to work with my wife. Didn’t return calls or texts. Now it looks like they are going.

You don't need a real I.D. yet.

Is accountability usually a problem with her? This would torque me.

One thing that actually MIGHT work is paying to upgrade the ticket. Then, by doing so, you MIGHT be able to establish the same privileges of other tickets. I did this with a non-refundable ticket on another airline.

From Delta's web page-
We completely understand. We understand that your plans may change, you can change or cancel your travel without a change fee or Award redeposit fee. If you cancel your flight, the value of the ticket(s) will become an eCredit to use toward a future Delta flight*. If there is a difference in price, the fare difference will apply. As a reminder, Basic Economy purchases are final, meaning tickets are not changeable or refundable. This means that you will not receive an eCredit for canceling your Basic Economy ticket purchased after April 30, 2021.

Basic economy flights are final. No refund or changes, per your post. Thanks

Never buy a basic economy ticket on Delta. Yeah, it’s cheaper than main cabin fares by $30-50 round trip, but you lose so many options - just one being the credit if you must cancel.

Don‘t blame Delta - it is clear in their policy. But, we all learn lesson in life. If you gamble, sometimes you lose. I like the idea of upgrading the fare, then cancelling and get a credit, but I don’t know if you can upgrade a basic economy fare.

I fly a lot and I mean a lot, domestically and internationally. I was in Europe last week and flew back into JFK. Overnighted there and at 6:30 am the next morning got a message that American Airlines canceled my flight. Had to scramble and found a Delta flight nine hours later. Hope to get reimbursed by American. Hope is a big word.

Good luck. I fly a lot as well and American sucks when it comes to things like that.

We missed our Sunday flight (our fault) home from GSP to DFW (live in Fort Worth). We had the cheap non-refundable tickets. Put on standby, told we had to fly back on the same flight (flies several times a day) because of the tickets. Sat at the airport all day. It was Thanksgiving so all flights were full. Came back the next day and the ticket agent said if we couldn't make the flight that day they would book us on a flight to Charlotte and then to DFW at THEIR expense. American treated us better than Southwest ever has. I wouldn't have said that 5 years ago.

I have almost a million miles on American. Retired so don’t fly much now.
