OT- Need hotel advice for a trip early April to NY City

My wife and I will be traveling to NYC for pleasure Sunday - Thurs the week of The Masters. We don't stay in our room much when we travel for fun, so we don't need the Park Plaza (unless you know of an amazing discount code).
I am looking for advice on a reasonable hotel with a convenient location for sight seeing. Any help will be appreciated.
