OT: Odd Sports Rabbit Hole

Watched a hockey documentary called Red Penguins about Michael J. Fox, Mario Lemieux and others trying to revive the Russian national hockey team after the fall of the USSR. Doc ended with a song by a band called Gogol Bordello fronted by a NYC-based Ukrainian immigrant. Song is called Start Wearing Purple. Genre is gypsy punk, or polka punk as I think of it. Catchy as hell. Turns out it was adopted by James Madison University years ago as an unofficial fight song. Fun watching the evolution of this obscure, weird song.

On a similar note: while I am the furthest thing from a soccer fan, I think the greatest team/music combo in the world isn’t even close to this one. Makes me wish my Gamecocks had something like this.
