Today's Post and Courier had an article about the extreme danger to your dogs and cats if you have sego palms. They are very toxic/poisonous to those animals and will kill them in many cases if ingested, even in very small amounts. A Charleston area vet reported that recently he had 3 dogs brought in with strange symptoms that turned out to be sego poisoning. 2 of those dogs died. I have 5 of them in my yard and I have a dog and a cat. They've been around these palms for at least 8 years and I haven't had an issue and have never seen them messing around these plants.
