I've heard years of people saying how great of show it was so recently I decided to give it a shot (spoilers ahead)

Loved the show from the get go my favorite character was Ned Stark so when he died at the end of season 1 I was dissapointed. I was able to carry on just to wait on the day the Joffrey and the Kingslayer got theres. Fast foward to end of season 3 both are still alive and my favorite now is Robb Snow and then he dies and it kind of pissed me off the way it happened with him and his wife talking about naming their baby after Ned and just like that both are killed! I'm having a hard time continuing the show now cause with there's he exception of Lord Tyrion I seem to hatested everybody now. OK just figured I would vent a little before I move on to season 4 lol

That's part of what makes it a great show. It goes in directions you would never expect, which constantly keeps you on your toes. If Tyrion died then that would really suck, because I'm not sure there has ever been a better fit of character (no pun). It's by far my favorite show, and I hope they can keep it running strong.

The Red Wedding was the worlds worst kept secret. It happened in the books 10 years before the show. I love the series. No more spoilers... just don't get attached to anyone.

I don't know if y'all are into reading, but the books are much, much better. I love the show, too.

I'm up to the Red Wedding, so no one tell anything that happens after that. Just to be safe, I'm not opening this thread again. Probably shouldn't have opened it to begin with.

Anyways, I agree, it's a great show. I'm really trying not to get too attached to anybody, but it's tough. All the characters are really well-written, and the performances are A+ all around. Just about everyone has some kind of redemptive trait that makes them likable, or at least un-hateable.

Except for Joffrey. Some of the stuff he does, even the Devil would be like, "Whoa, dude, not cool."

Im hooked on it. I heard rave reviews so I had to see what it was all about. Now I have my mom, uncle, cousin, sister and other friends hooked.

For the record, its Robb Stark, not Robb Snow. Jon Snow is still alive.

Alot of people may not have thought of this, or paid it any attention - but take notice of the stag? that killed the direwolf - and take notice of whos houses those sigils belong to. Also look at the order they're dying :)

5 pups = 5 stark children, albino runt = Jon Snow, driven away by the mother of the pups = Cat's treatment of Jon... layers upon layers

This series is incredibly deep and rich with content.

Wow man, you should have said SPOILERS. Too bad for you that you were a sucker for the goody-two-shoes that were two dumb to play "The Game of Thrones." Well, just think of it this way, a part of what makes the person a great character is how they die. Ned thought he was being honorable, I disagree with that but that is what he believed he had to do though his family suffered for it. Robb was just a naive sucker. My favorites are Bronn and The Hound but I also like, well all the Lannisters. Ramsey Snow, Littlefinger, Arya Stark, Asha Greyjoy, Podrick Payne, Sam Tarly, Osha oh and you can't forget Hot Pie. It really is still a great show, There are going to be more characters introduced so don't bail on it yet.

Well, luckily for me I didn't read the books until after this season. I like to watch the show first.

I disagree. What got Robb in trouble wasn't his naivete. What got him in trouble was the fact that he broke his promise to Walder Frey. That was what set the betrayal in motion. If you want to bang the chick, fine, even Ned had a bastard son. But you can't marry [/I]her after promising to wed one of Frey's daughters. It's just bad politics. Play it a little more straight laced, and he might have lived to see another day.

Anyway, here's a song about it:
The King in the North

Actually read my message again I did put spoilers ahead before I started talking about the show.

I don't mind some of the lannisters Tyrion I love and Tywin is ok but I think I hate Joffrey more than any person on any show I have ever watched

It's naive to think Frey was going to let him get away with it. Really dumb. They don't call him "Black Walder" because of his skin tone.

oh yeah, there it is in the fine print. LOL! Joffrey, is one of the greatest villians in any story ever. Cersei and Ramsey Snow as well.

Its a great show. If any of you get the chance and like to read, I highly recommend the books. There are currently 5 in the series with the 6th due to come out late this year/early next year. (Winds of Winter)

Loved the books, love the series. When I was reading and got to the red wedding it was 2AM and I shouted "No, they can't!" Woke the house up and it took me an hour to unwind and go to sleep. Now to all those taters when they come to Columbia next season: Winter is coming, and team will be wearing the black because a gamecok always repays his debts!

agreed. the trial by combat scene later is a close second in my opinion.

i wish martin would come out with the next book. i'll be dead and buried before the series is over. for some of you who read it, you might like the wheel of time series by robert jordan, and sword of truth series by terry goodkind. they are great,
also i found a series on kindle, but there are books published now, by melissa mcphail. its the pattern of shadow and light series.

Basically any scene where Joffrey gets bitch-slapped is my favorite.

When Martin agreed for the series to air on HBO, he reportedly signed a clause that fines him millions of dollars if the sequel books (supposedly 2) are not completed in time to be filmed.

Someone posted a photo on Facebook a while back of the books stacked on top of each other. In the books they had tagged every single death through the book series. The number of tags were astounding/ As someone mentioned earlier, don't get attached to any character (though I am especially fond of Kalesi) . Chances are none will be around very long.

It's hard discus much online without someone dropping spoilers via the books. FWIW they haven't strictly adhered to them but for the most part they are the same. Much of the story is ripped from history, particularly medieval Great Britain (war of the roses, wall, etc). The red wedding was inspired by the Black Dinner where King James of Scotland had members of Clan Douglas killed. The author said he skipped it when writing the book and came back and did it at the end because it was too difficult. He has also said Tyrion is his favorite character to write (the books are written via the perspective of varying characters from chapter to chapter) so perhaps that bodes well for him surviving.

I admit that I too love the series, can't wait for the season to begin. Come to think of it, I have the dvd's for the first seasons. I might have to start a marathon ahead of time.

Actually, IF YOU WANT TO ENJOY IT BETTER DON'T READ WHAT I AM ABOUT TO SAY:

I actually, it happened toward the end of the episode, and the episode was maybe the most boring one so far up until that point. That is how they got me. I was nearly half asleep when it happened. That is why I thought it was incredibly directed.

I knew what was coming with the Red Wedding, and I was still stunned by the violence.

I just wish Martin would get his butt in gear and finish the books. The TV series is quickly catching up with the books. It's been so long since I read them that I'll probably have to reread them before launching into the next book. The series is enough different from the books that you can't rely on it to refresh your memory. For example, a couple of people definitively died at the end of last season who are still alive at the end of the most recent book.

Not only is this untrue, but I've actually never heard anyone ever post or say it as even a rumor. Did you make this up at this very moment?

He told the show runners "how it ends" based on their ability to answer a question about Jon's parentage (already amazingly spoiled in this thread: R + L = J). They answered correctly, and he gave them the right to make the show. I have the distinct feeling that after writing this series for several decades, GRRM could not care less about what they do with a show that's been around a few seasons, and/or whether or not the show finishes before the book.

And, that said, the show WILL finish before the books. Winds of Winter will probably not be released in 2015, and the show has already hit the end of book storylines for Bran and Sansa, with just a tiny bit left for Arya. I could see maybe a season of Jon Snow, left, but not much more than that. Other characters are near their end as well. It could take another five years, easy, for A Dream of Spring to be published and finish the series.

If book readers choose to watch the show this season, there will surely be "spoilers" for them. Though whether they are actual spoilers, or just material made up for the show, no one will know--until the books are released.

R + L = J is GRRM's fault. He gave away too many hints. IMO there is plenty of material from the books still left before the WOW release for about 3 season. So It's not that big of a deal. A lot happens, and a lot of excellent dramatic stuff too.

*GAME OF THRONE SPOILERS LIE AHEAD*

There's definitely some dramatic events to come, but there's no way HBO drags out Feast and Dance for three seasons. Those books are notoriously slow, with many characters just traveling from A to B or Dany governing in Mereen.

We are already starting to see the story unravel as certain characters are nowhere to be found... no Lady Stoneheart? What does that do to Pod and Brienne's story? And Jamie's too? Looks like Jamie is headed to Dorne, this season. Quentyn Martell has not been cast... and no sign of Griff or Young Griff, either. With three of the main characters almost caught up (the youngest Starks) we are going to start to see more HBO material made from whole-cloth instead of the story.

Just watched the royal wedding episode at beginning of season 4. For me personally that was the most gratifying ending to an episode yet in this series!!

I have been trying to stay out of rumors for this season, but from what I heard early on they were going to focus on house Martell IN Dorne, not Essos. There is also alot they can do with the Margery - Cersei drama that they already started. There is alot going on at the Wall, and with Arya in Braavos. A lot happens with Danerys and in the Iron Isles with Asha her relatives. Maybe they don't get to Lady stoneheart this season, but they don't necessarily need the same actress back. Her features have changed and they can put a fake face on someone.

And Jaime in Dorne? Really. I don't know what the point of that deviation is. When I said I thought there was enough material I didn't mean I think it would be a drag it out. The last book was very long.

I never even heard the term "red wedding" before. Which I think enhanced the experience.
