Dawn Staley and our assistants do a great job of maximizing our players' talent.

Here are our current players and their Hoopgurlz rankings coming out of high school:

2011

Aleighsa Welch, 4 stars, number 88 in the country. She is now an HM All-American and the heart and soul of our team. Tina Roy, Elem Ibiam and Olivia Gaines were not top 100 players that year. El and Tina were 3 star recruits. I can't find Olivia. BTW, Kaleena Mosqueda-Lewis was the number 1 recruit that year.

2012

Khadijah Sessions was a 4 star recruit and number 40 in the country. Now a starting Final Four Point Guard.

Tiffany Mitchell was a 4 star recruit and only rated number 46 in the country and now she's a firs team All-American and two time SEC POTY. I'd say that was a strong upside.

Asia Dozier was a 4 star recruit and number 88 in the country. She starts for a Final Four team.

Tiffany Davis was a 3 star recruit not in the top 100.

UCONN signed numbers 1, 2 and 6 that year.

2013

Alaina Coates was a 4 star recruit rated number 28 in the country. She was SEC FOTY and 6th MOTY last year. SECT MVP and Greensboro Regional MVP this year plus 2nd team All-SEC; right?

BTW, UNC signed numbers 3, 7, 14 and 23 last year. Number 3 was Diamond DeShields who transferred. Guess who we just beat?

2014

We finally had a highly ranked class.

A'ja Wilson number 1 SEC FOTY
Jatarie White number 7 (hurt much of the year)
Kaydra Duckett number 32
Bianca Cuevas number 35
Doniyah Cliney outside the top 100, redshirted

If you look at our recruiting rankings for our upper classmen, we have no business being 34-2, SEC regular season and tournament champs and in the Final Four. This is a credit to our coaches and player development. My cap is off to them.

If our football coaches had succeeded in player development at the same level as WBB, we would have 2 SEC east championships and quite possibly an SEC championship during our 3 year run of 11-2.....
