Our third base coach is a little too aggressive. I have noticed this since day one. He needs to smarten up and be a little more in tune with the running abilities of our players.

Sammy ALMOST got Caldwell thrown out at 3rd in the B4th with just one out when their RF'er mishandled that line drive. Caldwell had just enough speed to beat the throw, but your point is taken. Sammy might be exposing some of the slower runners to easy outs.

Maybe the coaches are trying to push the players to run faster and getting used to throws at the plate?

I'm ok with it. I'd rather be aggressive, and make the other team have to make a play. It puts pressure on the other team.

I don't know... I coached first, and the third base coach and I agreed

that, as someone else said, we needed to make the defense make the play. Or in some cases, make the ump make the call.

I prefer to be aggressive now rather than slide into the SEC slate of games playing slow.

GOCOCKS! BEATUT! BEATBAMA! BEATDAVIDSON!

He might have run the windmill a little too long but if Caldwell had been paying attention when he rounded 2nd he would have been in easily. I don't think he sent Martin when he got picked.

To be thrown out at home the outfielder has to make the catch, them make a throw online. The cthcer must first catch it, then tag the runner and blue has to see it their way. Mess up any one of the above and the runner is safe. You will be surprised what the extra pressure of knowing the runnner is going to go will mess with you.

^^^This^^^

I love aggressive base running.

And Sammy's no rookie. He knows what he's doing and he does what Bubbaglide says. He puts the onus on the opponent to make the play...and he knows when the odds are in our favor.

Just curious...how many feet are our base runners supposed to beat the throw by at 3rd and home? 1 foot, 2 feet, 10 feet?

Personally, I'll take the bang bang plays as long as we're on the plus side of the calls.
