Paris making 2.2 million for a 55% winning record

I read an Article from the State Paper and CLP is the Lowest Paid Coach in the Conference.
Why do we have to be so negative before CLP can hit the Ground Running Here.

I like this hire and I Believe he can get the Job Done. We need to get behind CLP and This Hire.

I have been Critical of Tanner, but I have to come to His Defense on this. We tried to get Sean Miller, and McMahon and it didn't work out.

This time I am Convinced Tanner did everything He Could to get the Best Possible Coach for us.

There were to many Job Openings in Our Conference. We are fortunate to get Lamont Parris. Let's get On Board the Parris Train.
I think the point, at least from all that I see, has zero to do with Paris other than a very thin resume at best. The issue is the last 3 times we've gone coach shopping we end up with our 3rd, 4th or 5th place candidates at best.

Paris might be a great guy but nothing in his resume commanded $2.2 million, paying his buyout from UTC nor a 65% buyout here. If this was the best we could do we should have kept what we had as it would have cost of less to get rid of him next year and maybe there would be a better candidate available.

Hopefully another coaching vacancy doesn't come up while Ray is still here

The anti-Paris group is going to have their heels dug in waiting for their “I told you so” moment for quite some time, I’m just learning to I need to stop engaging at some point.
One says show me a good win…OK, VCU (NET #56) on the road this year - no reply back to acknowledge…UTC was 1-2 vs. Quad 1’s and 3-0 vs. Quad 2’s…4-2 total (.667).
Oh, what were we you might ask? 3-8 vs. Quad 1’s and 4-3 vs. Quad 2’s…7-11 total (.388).
But…it doesn’t matter, those stats won’t mean anything to them “because we played better teams” - OK, umm, no sh*t? His time at Wisconsin doesn’t mean anything. Him improving his team every single season the 4 years after his 1st season doesn’t mean anything. The fact his school isn’t as likely to have “big wins” because they played 6 Quad 1/2 games vs. us playing 18 doesn’t matter, they’ll actually use it to spin their point.
They think we should have got Rick Pitino or some BS - but guess who we’re are to a Rick Pitino? We’re a Chattanooga to him…and that’s a harsh reality but it’s true! Someone is going to have to have a “Dabo-like” grassroots building of this program and I think the guy might be able to do even though he has “no experience”. His butt was in a courtside seat for the NCAA tournament as a coach for EIGHT seasons since 2010. How many times since 2010 was anyone on our coaching staff in that position…..if you guessed ONE then you are correct!!!! But, he has NO experience with any of that and it’s a “joke” to hear talk about getting to the tournament as a coach here?
I hope you’re getting the picture I’m painting here…I’ll leave it at that
Not sure about anyone that is "anti Paris" as much as they are "anti amateur hour hiring" by our AD It's not about Paris it's about Rays ability to sh*t the bed at any given moment...

We might have dodged a bullet by not getting Miller. Can he recruit well without offering recruits something above what is allowable by the NCAA? Danny Ford did great at Clemson when AD Bill McLellan and others there hid their heads in the sand. But when he went to Arkansas under the watchful eye of AD Frank Broyles, his true self showed and, he fell flat on his face.

As I said Xavier didn't hire him without knowing he would be cleared.
So you know someone at the school? Because, if so, that has not been leaked to any of their fans that I know of....and I have several classmates that work in the Cincinnatti area, a couple who were Xavier undergrads called to rib me about hiring him for less than what we offered and they are concerned about any possible sanctions. To the best of my knowledge they don't have any inside info on what the sanctions will be but nothing is being rumored otherwise.

Xavier didn't even get involved until Tuesday and offered on Saturday. Do you really believe they recieved any information from the NCAA that fast? Seriously? I have never known the NCAA to respond that quickly. If I had to guess....Miller's agent told Xavier that Miller was going to accept our offer and Xavier quickly made an offer, rolling the dice, just like we were.

Yeah...I love when posters claim to know things there is no possible way for them to know and just state it so bodly as a fact.

If he was so awesome how come he was our 5th place candidate?
Don't listen to people who just make up shit. Chatt finished 1st 2nd and 4th in their conference the 3 years before Paris took over. The coach before Paris was hired by Umass. Paris has finished better than 4th in conference ONCE in 5 years. Paris didn't take over some team that is a bottom dweller in their conference.
Hopefully he will do great but to think this is the best the AD can do, is sad.

I just texted a friend in Cincinnatti about Miller. His exact response is: "I like Sean Miller. But, he's got legal issues he needs to resolve".

Rogue have you ever noticed your inability to just say what you have to say and move on. Do you actually think that makes a bit of difference in the discussion that you "just texted a friend"?

That was me Clever, not Rogue. I travel to Cincy fairly often. Love it up there. Love Skyline chili. I was up there just last month. I decided to text him after seeing the back and forth between you and Rogue. The person I texted is a UC grad. But, obviously he keeps up with Xavier.

I love getting back up to the Cincy-Dayton area also. Travel up there at least a couple of times a year. Great cities.

We can't change history but we can control the now!
let's begin now by doing what it takes to sign top rated players!

Never been to Dayton. Have been to Cleveland. I go annually to Cincy. Like I said, I love Skyline Chili, east-side Cincinnati in Hamilton County. If I was to live up north, that's where I would go. But, at my age, will stay in sunny South Carolina.

Dayton is primarly a blue-collar GM town. But IAMS, NCR and CareSource are HQ'd there or used to be. Also LEXIS-NEXIS was HQ'd there prior to moving to Atlanta. Alot of Kentucky influence because of the auto plants. Large Greek and Eastern European influence. Oakwood is a great suburb, abutting the UD campus. Very friendly, good restaurants, and even an excellent BBQ "across the tracks" run by an Alabama native. Also, Wright-Patterson AFB is located there also.

I love Skyline three way. Blue Ash chili is also very good.

Since I have Greek ancestors, I may have to find my way up there. At Skylines, I normally have gotten their chili dogs with the cheese and their fries. Little different last month as I got either the 3-way or 4-way, can't remember which . First-time I ever went 15 or so years ago, I poured on their hot sauce. It was hot. But I survived. Also whenever up there, where I stay, I love to go to The Pancake House nearby. Needless to say, I go on a diet when I return to South Carolina.

Have you tried Eli's BBQ in Cincy? Have friends who say it's wonderful. Back in the 1990's Montgomery Inn was the place to go in Cincy for BBQ but I wasn't impressed.

Now we know why "J" did not follow "K" to that post office when they did the flashy thing on him..,He is here amongst us. Someone is bound to get slapped!

Paris' first season at Chattanooga he had the youngest team in the country. And his second season was not much different which could have contributed to poor results.

His last three seasons have been pretty damn good with steady improvement every season.

I wasn't happy with the hire at first but I've warmed up to it the more I come to know about him.
