In most sports, I can see what the missing piece of the puzzle is. On the surface, it looks like we have a good basketball team. Then we go out and look pretty damn good for 30 to 35 minutes. I don't know what happens that last 5 to 10 minutes, but it isn't pretty. One game I think it is Martin's attitude that is killing us, then I think we just can't shoot, then it looks like everyone is scared to shoot, I just don't know anymore. I don't know how we can look like a SEC caliber basketball team for 30 minutes, and then look so dysfunctional the last 10.

Re: POLL: Why is our basketball team losing?

I put down "team chemistry/no leader," but "Other" is 1B. Really, I think this team suffers from the same problems the football team did. That is, there is no leadership from anyone on the team and they are mentally weak. Put even the slightest amount of pressure on them and they fold like a deck of cards, with no one there to put them back together again. They're out there waiting for something bad to happen so they can pack it in and lose.

Ever since ISU I've had a distinct sense of deja vu. We're following the exact same pattern as the football season. Start slow (Charleston Classic for basketball, A&M for football), get our crap together and look like making a run (December and early January for basketball, UGA for football), and then piss it all away. Both teams had a chance to be pretty damn good, but lost it by being weak-willed and lazy.
