Parents and coaches are out of control. I know I played rec league sports, but don't recall parents and coaches freaking out like they do today. I am too old for this stuff. I am coaching 10-13 yo flag football and I am about to just pass over the coaching to someone else. The thing is, it isn't the kids. It is the ridiculous parents and one other coach. I am a very easy going guy, but I lose it when people try to push me around (figuratively in this case on the field). The last game one of the other teams parents started arguing with my kid, because my kid told him "aren't you like 51 or something, shouldn't you be cutting grass", and the dude lost it. He starts yelling at me to get my kid under control, and I tell him that we are the adults, and he needs to be above that behavior. The game before that the other coach gets up about 5 feet from me and tells me to get my team under control because they are playing too rough, and then turns around and tells his kids the next time they get in your way, lower your shoulder and run through them. I keep saying over and over, this is it, never again, I'm hanging up the whistle, and then the next thing you know I'm standing on the 50 with plays in my hand.
