No. 1 linebacker in United States (Rivals) Sammy Brown (Jefferson Dragons) comments on interactions with Gamecocks' 2024 QB commit Dante Reno at recruiting cookout on last weekend of July when interviewed by recruiting editor Lee Wardlaw:
"I talked with Dante Reno a good bit, and we had been communicating a little bit beforehand about setting up, a visit and whatnot.
I was able to talk to him a lot while we were there, as well as Mazeo Bennett. He was there too, and I talked width him a little bit, Hevin (Brown-Shuler) was there too, and I talked with him a good bit. We've been good friends for a while, so it was good to catch up with him, but we talked about forming that pact," he said.
Sammy Brown and Hevin Brown-Shuler have known each other since middle school. "Since middle school and the FBU (Football University) days," as Brown-Shuler describes it.
On Dante Reno:
"He definitely fits the mold that South Carolina wants. He's a very genuine gut, he's upbeat and excited about the program, what they're going to do. He's going to go into South Carolina and do great things, I truly believe that. I've talked with him three or four weeks now," (Brown said in early August).
(Reno) seems like a really good guy, he definitely cares about everybody at South Carolina and the fans. He is definitely going to fit the mold at South Carolina.
