I wonder if other ACC schools will take offense to their single dominate football power going around telling recruits how cupcake their conference is in an apparently successful attempt to get top recruits not to sign with an SEC school. I'm glad this came from Kirby Smart.

Smart needs to toughen up and stop crying. Many coaches will tell prospects whatever they want to hear during the recruiting process. It's just the way the game is played. Once a player names a leader or commits other coaches know to where direct the mud and muck! Imho more coaches do negative recruiting than not!

I didn’t see it as him complaining as much as him just pointing out other conferences know the SEC has the best talent. So much so the other conferences sell “you won’t get as beat up here”. Honestly I truly believe this is where Clemson excels. They schedule a huge SEC matchup each season. They play us. Then they have 1-2 conference games max that could be difficult. But those other 8 games...they can sell these skill guys that they’ll be much better than the defenders and put up massive numbers.

Now they have the type of players that put up numbers against anyone. But I truly believe this was the sell to the guys that built it like Watkins.
